Stupid rookie mistake.

93 Accord LX

I replaced the distributor cap and snapped the bottom back bolt. Anyone
have any idea on the best way to remove the broken stub. It's sticking out
about 1/16" on the back side of the mounting plate and broke off flush on
the front.

Thanks
Duane

Aaaargggghhh. try some penetrating oil and a pair of needle nose vice grips.
If you have led a pure life, you may be able to keep it coming out the bottom.

be very careful trying to get it out the bottom it may damage the treads on
the way through the hole. if it at all possible take a hack saw and make a
slot on the bottom side of the bolt the and use a screw driver to turn the
bolt in the he direction it would go, when it was all there, to loosen it.
If this does not work then drill a hole in the bolt and use and ez-out screw
extractor. you may also be ale to use a center punch, not the automatic
kind, and a hammer to light lightly tap the bolt, from the broken end, in
the direction it would normally loosen. Once it starts to move you got it
Good luck
if you decide to drill the bolt be careful not to damage the threads of the
hole or you will just make allot more work for yourself.

This is one of the nastier jobs for even a skilled machinist. Drilling a hole
down the middle of a small bolt for an EZOut by hand is really, really touchy
and something you do when you've tried everything else. Try this first:
Using a Dremel tool with a cutting disc cut a screwdriver slot in the top of
the bolt. It won't matter too much if you have to cut into the surrounding
material a bit.

Thanks all, some great ideas.
I think I'll try Ken's idea with the dremel. I was thinking of
drilling, but then I would have to remove the entire distributor to get it
on the drill press. With my luck, it would not line up when I went to put it
back together.

Thanks again,
Thats twice this UG has bailed me out.
