I have a Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec (UK model) and a rearward facing baby seat.
Can somebody tell me, is there any way to disable the passenger airbag so
that I can safely fit the baby seat in the front passenger seat?

Many thanks.

Why not fit the baby seat in the back or is it a 3 door version?

The passenger airbag has no means for temporary cut out, and there is NO way
that you will get Ford to disable this when the VIN tells it is there.
And please NEVER put the rearward facing baby seat in the front seat when
you have a passenger airbag. This will KILL the baby when it explodes.
The first owner of my Focus had an unexpected baby and had to trade in the
car because there were no solution to this.

We have a rearward facing baby seat. Not ideal in the back. Have to get a
different seat I suppose. Shame though as it's a whole travel system.

Baby seat should never be placed in the front passenger seat the only
exception being pick up trucks. The new models of pick up allow the driver
to switch off the passenger side air bag. Rear facing seats for kids up to
20lbs and 20 to 40 lbs front facing. Safest place is in the centre of the
back seat.

Get yourself a small mirror so you can see baby. Newborns should be facing
back, be in the back seat and if possible in the middle (safest). On long
trip my wife used to sit in the back with the baby to keep an eye on her but
it's not necessary.

Chris.
