Something you might consider - especially if you're getting your items
from Kick Hill, who has the disemboweled remains of over 500 Fieros. He
might have the whole door - in the color you need to match the car -
with a functioning mirror - and good hinges too. From what I remember
telling you, it was just about the door skin which is easy enough. But
coupled with everything else, the complete door would be way easier.
Since the hinges are on the door (actually they bolt from inside the
door), changing the door itself only involves 6 bolts on the frame and a
few wire connectors. Worse case scenario, you *might* have to loosen the
back of the front fender to get to the bottom hinge bolts. If that's the
case, then the rocker panel has to come off. I'm not sure all this has
to be done. I'll check it out and get back to you. But even if they do
need to come off/loosen, it's still easier - compared to all the things
you have listed below.

Dew wipes are pretty involved. The inner panel has to come off and you
have to jockey the glass around to get three of the screws. Once you get
into that, you're back where we started the conversation. :-) Then
again, you might luck out and get decent dew wipes with the whole door
too. Anyway, something to think about.

Yellow wasn't available in 1986 - only in 1988. But if the gold is in
decent shape - and you can get a door that matches, myself, I'd leave it
and get some Meguiers wax and have at it. I hate repainting cars and
$400 might sound good but... it's $400! Maaco's are different
everywhere. The Fiero Factory uses a Maaco in Alabama but they have an
excellent painter on staff. A good paint job will cost twice that and
maybe more. Try and see some of the stuff this particular Maaco has done
in the quoted range. Gold metallic paint can be a bitch. keep in touch.
