Hmmm, list is pretty inactive right now. Actually read a whole spammmer.
heh heh heh! Anyway, maroon 87 4-cylinder is leaking coolant and I
crawled underneath to -hope! hope!- see if the hose into the waterpump
was leaking. Nope it's the water pump. Soooo the plates got onto the 88
white one and the maroon one goes into the garage to await warmer days.

When I get down to it, any recommendations? Do I go in from the fender
well? remove the inner skirt? Any clues from those who have changed a wp
other than to get one with a metal impeller?

And yeah, TD. The swap meet is in Huntsville, Alabama. Ride down on a
freight train. Mebbe they'll let you ride up front with the engineer.
Put your Fiero on a gondola and have Ed fix everything while you're
there. Jazzman will help diagnose and I keep bringing the Dr Pepper. :-)

I think you go in from the top, but you have to remove
a bunch of stuff to get to it.

When I was reading Tater's message I remembered seeing and
bookmarking something a couple of years ago. It's for a V6
but I doubt it would be all that different for a 4 cyl:

It's not a very fun job. It helps to be able to work on parts you cant see,
so if your good at seeing with your hands you should have no problem. Just
make darn sure your mating surface is free of old gasket material and uber
clean I like to clean everything with brake parts cleaner before final
mounting. Use some RTV if you want to make sure you don't want to go back
in again, very thin layer on both sides of gasket, and remember to torq if
you can

One big tip, get a pair of old socks and cut the toes out. Put the sock
tubes around your arms as to not get that darn itchy insulation on you.

Oh yea, and the best way to get at it is from the top, gota pull out a few
things but it's not too much work to get at. I remember a couple of bolts on
the bottom of the pump that were a bugger.

Tater,
Unfortunately, the only place left to ride on trains is up front with
the engineer. Makes you cuss stupid drivers for months after just one
train ride.
As for the Swapper, I'll try for next year. This years vacation is
already spent for Daughters graduation...(see you this spring) and
moving her to next school. I did keep a week for the Nationals and am
looking forward to showing you guys the great midwest.
No matter how you get to the pump, no doubt if it is on a Fiero,
something will be placed in position to gouge the living crap out of
your hands or arms. Fun car to drive, pain in the butt to work on.
Oh well, thats why we keep them right?
