There are only 36 250GTOs. The 39 number is often misquoted because there are
three 330GTOs as well. To further confuse, there are four 330LMs which
sometimes leads to 43 GTOs being reported as existing.
My favorite ex owner of a 250 GTO is the Victoria High School in Texas. The
car (s/n 3589 Winner of the International Trophy at Silverstone in 1962) was
donated in 1964 to the Auto mechanics department and stayed there until 1972
when rescued by Jeff Korton. I must have gone to the wrong school, we had a
1949 Ford in shop.
As for the owners, as of 1999 the lucky ones are.......

No, but i know it's got fresh body damage in the tail end and is currently in
Italy.
