I am in the lookout for a diesel dually dodge
I will only have 6500$ to pay so it will probably have to be
before the 90 model year.but here in arkansas the HD trucks
are common and truck prices are low.
I really want a 2wd crewcab dually but what I hear is good luck.
are they rare?
I know I want the 5sp because the early year auto had problems before they
got allison to make them a torque converter.
is that year I am looking a 12v cummins and when did they switch to the 24v.
also I need something I can get in and drive on the highway EASILY for
extended periods, can this truck do this comfortably.
did they have A?C in this earlier year?
and anything I need to know about rear ends. please tell me
I would prefer 4.10LS but can you get them in that year.
also any websites that deal with the dodge diesels.

thanks

There's only one year before '90. 1989 and they aren't that cheap yet.

Is something that was never made rare???
No crewcabs and no dually's in 89 or 90 with the diesel, no "extended" or
"club" cabs either.

Those years had the 727. Allison never made a torque convertor for them

Good luck on the 4.10's Since those truck didn't have overdrive, the rear end
was 3.07

Dodge has not made a crew cab dually for about 30 years. There are a
few that were stretched into crew cabs by after market custom houses
but the stretching cost more than you want to spend on the whole
truck.

Fitch, it seems that way, but they still were made in 1986 model year.

I'll be darned. I thought they were discontinued back in the
seventies. Thanks for the update.

Yep, anything 20 or more years ago, can remember just like yesterday. Course I
can't remember yesterday!!!! :)
I did see several of that vintage in the last couple of days. They were
D250's, single rear wheels. The D/W 350's (dually) are rare.
