This isn't about dodges - but you folks may have some useful input. I
bought a Toyota 2FG20 forklift yesterday. Yup, Ol Fitchie got himself a
genuine Red-Neck Race-Car, single seater for Wear house Grand Prix.

And I don't even have a wear house. Oh well ...

Anyway, it was used, and didn't come with a manual. First thing I want
to do is give the thing a good going over - oil/filter change, hydraulic
filter, check the antifreeze, etc. etc. Problem is, I don't know what
the recommended fluids are, and I would love to have an owners manual
and a FSM for the thing.

A friend found a manual for a 3FGC20 25 on Abe books, so I bought that
one, but was hoping some of you might know of a source. The Toyota WEB
page was about zero help. It pointed me to one dealer in Santa Anna -
the factory owned dealership. I may end up there, anyway to buy
filters, but wanted to see if there were options.

Thanks
Fitch

Try WWW.YTMAG.COM There are a lot of links on there for older
tractors and equipment, and links to other sites for various
equipment. Also there are a lot of manuals for sale. Lots of
discussion groups too. There is most likely someone on there or in
one of the discussion forums that can help you.

Use the recommended grade of engine oil ( 20-W40), trans fluid (Dexron III)
and power steering, but you'll better seal / piston / pump life if you use 1
gallon of ATF in every 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid.

Is it a propane engine or gasoline? Propane can go much longer between
engine servicings and you can advance the ignition timing a bunch if you
need more grunt.

It happened that when I found one worth buying, it was gas. That is
better for cold weather starting. I know the advantages and
disadvantages of Propane. Its a trade off. I decided up front I could
live with either one if the rest of the machine was acceptable.

Here's a little known trick for starting cold propane engines without ether.

A toy squirt gun with alcohol ( HEET) in it. Just squirt a bit in the intake
and crank her.

Too bad you didn't get a Diesel version.

Fill the toy squirt gun with good ole canadian whiskey, one shot for the
engine, three shots for yourself, two shots for the engine, six shots for
yourself,
hell another six shots for yourself, fill up the squirt gun, its empty. Oh hell
with the squirt gun, just drink it up the bottle

Thanks for all the input folks. The used manual came and its close
enough. The engine is the same, the hydraulic system looks the same.
It is for a 3 year newer forklift but they don't change much. As
manuals go, it isn't much of a manual, but it is better than nothing.

Toyota doesn't sell the manual or the parts list for my forklift any
longer. What the heck, its only 31 years old. Ford sells manuals for
every tractor they ever made. Sigh ...

I'll keep an eye out on the WEB.

It gets an oil change today.

glad you found a manual, fitch...

as to the oil change, are the tires solid, or do you have to rotate
the air in em?

He should probably not only "rotate" the air but cfhange it in the spring and
again in the fall

And he has to use the Toyota certified High Capacity Air to insure the tires
won't flatten under the load of a heavy thought.

hmm... this is fitch we're talking about here.... he might need a very
high performance air for high output thoughts....

They have very heavy air, I can't let it out or it will dent the ground.
