I bought a 1997 cummings a week ago. Can someone help me out ? On the dash
on the left hand side their is a red button (small) it don't light up, it
looks like some kind of a reset button (it will push in) does anyone have a
idea what it is. The dodge book does not show it at all ??
Thanks

I'm betting it's part of an aftermarket theft alarm.

Don't know about that button but if you are a first time cummins
owner there are a few things you should do. Go to the Turbo Diesel
Registor http://turbodieselregister.com/ and click on discussion
groups. Go to 2nd generation and then to 12 valve, Your 97 is a 2nd
gen with 12 valve engine. Pay attention to the KDP (killer dowel pin)
thread. A lot of Great info on this site for cummins diesel ownders.
Great motors! In the last issue of TDR, a man has over a million miles
on a 1995 Dodge cummins, with orginal engine. Your year enging can be
hopped up rather easily.
