5th Wheeling Question

Hi Group !

I was wondering if anyone has seen or used a tonneau cover and stock
tailgate instead of a flow through tailgate ? If so would you know who
manufactures a cover of this type ?

Tow with a stock tailgate but no tonneau cover. I think that I have
seen the type of cover that you are referring to either in the
Camper's World catalog or in the Trailer Life mag.

When towing a fifth wheel some use a V type flow through tailgate to reduce
the wind drag of the stock tailgate. Another method when not towing is to
use a tonneau cover. I was looking for a tonneau cover with a flap in it to
allow hooking up the fifth wheel and using the stock tailgate.

I got news for those folks, the "drag" from a stock tailgate is the least of
your worries about wind resistance when towing a 5th wheel trailer.
Have you heard that if you tow east to west on even numbered days your mileage
wil be better than on odd numbered days?
You should tow north to south on odd numbered days.
This makes about as much sense as worrying about tonneau cover and tailgates on
a 5th wheel tow rig.
