Comfort Dodge definitely takes the take. Our '98 Explorer (Limited) nor a
friend's '00 F-250 Super Duty (with "nice" trim package) have more
comfortable seats or rides than my Dodge. I love it. I've had mine for 7
months and have 12k miles on it. Not a single problem out of it, except
for a door clip that I broke while installing new speakers.
Obviously the beekeep fellow has had a bad experience with Dodge. Either
that or he is just a Chevy/Ferd owner who thinks that "mine is better." I
hate people with that attitude.

Actually he likes his Dodge van just fine, since he still has it.
I'm concerned about the TSB's you folks mentioned....is there a place on the
web to view these ?

WTF is "Relibility"? It's bad enough that the original poster misspelled it,
too. What were you doing? Copying those big words that you had never seen
spelled before? Too bad that you misspelled an _already_ misspelled word by
leaving out the "a".
When you learn how to spell the very thing that you're pissing and moaning
about all the time, maybe someone will take your complaints about the
"reliability" of Dodge vehicles more seriously.
Oh yeah... One more thing. Add this to the sig below: Auto tranny, 149,000
miles, still going strong with no major repairs ever being performed or
needed.

Ever tow any real loads w/that clunker Log Jam? Go ahead and tell us a
lie, I know you will bring about a brief rebuttle of how, " I use it as a
work truck". What's pathetic is you have to drive a dodger w/149k on it,
isn't that something like a "wing and a prayer"? You can spell check me
forever but run that same spell check for dodgers auto
tranny's/dependability in general and see where you wind up.
Since you seem to have time to do all this, "Codger" why don't you look it up
and post it for us???
Interior is very nice, IMO nicer than Ford, a close call with the new
GM's. Probably toss the coin GM's way. I like the new captains seats
with the console. Console is not available in Dodge. On the other hand
our grandson sure does like ridin up front between Meme and Pepe
in "Mem's big rig"
Engine AOK
Tranny So far so good. Have only pulled the 36' fifth wheel a couple of
times however. We only keep our rigs 3 years so the tranny will never
be out of waranty so no problem anyway. To many posts about them going
bad to not be something there, IMO.
EX Cab I think Dodge has the smallest back seat of the big three. Its
probably because its the oldest design. Right now GM looks like it has
has the biggest. Our daughter has a Chevy and the back seat seems to
have about 4 inches more legroom. Thats a big deal when you aren't
getting much to start with. Its no problem for us. About the only thing
to ride there is grocery's.
$$$$$$ You should be able to get your best deal's from Dodge. There are
more out there. GM probably is getting close to suggested retail right
now for the heavy duty's. I would bet you could get a Dodge close to or
at invoice.
Overall we are happy with our/her truck. It will be interesting to see
what we end up with for the next one. If I had to pick one now, ot
probably would be one of the new GM Heavy Duty's. BUT the new Dodge's
are due out by the time we're ready. In any event, there should be some
sweet machinery to pick from.

Hi!
After three (happy <g>) years with a '98 Dak 5.2 4x4 Sport CC I recently
became owner of a 2001 RAM 2500 4x4 QC Laramie SLT Shortbed. The truck
is really awesome and I'm more than happy with it. Okay, the milage is
horribe (about 10)- the 5.9 should do better, but I just love the
8l-engine ;o)
The Dak was really one of the best cars I've ever owned - so I'm quite
optimistik with my new RAM.
I made a testdrive with several Trucks including my favourites, the F250
and (of course) the RAM. The decision was easy - Look & feel of the RAM
is IMHO much better, I don't like the interior of the ford, the power of
the RAM V10 is unbelievable ;o).
Of course there's no guarantee that every RAM is troublefree - there's
always a chance to get a lemon. But that's normaly with every car... So
simply decide what truck you really like the most and get it ...

Yep. How about a 27' Sea Ray Pachanga (w/65 gal fuel tank and supplies), or
a 20' Astro Fish & Ski (40 gal fuel)? Made a round trip to Booneville, TN
hauling a Lincoln Continental on the way up and a '65 Ford pickup on the way
back to FL. Made the 6-7% Monteagle grade with the cruise set at 60 mph and
never dropped one mph. And I've had the bed loaded several times to the
point that the frame bumpers were sitting on the axle.
Go ahead and tell us a
> lie, I know you will bring about a brief rebuttle of how, " I use it as a

As a matter of fact, it _is_ my work truck. Has been for the past year. Now,
I'd be lying if I said that I use it in a heavy-duty capacity for what I do.
However, the previous owner did construction work and pulled a goose-neck
trailer with it. Don't know exactly what all he hauled with it, though,
since I bought it from the lot where he had traded it in.
What's pathetic is you have to drive a dodger w/149k on it,
I don't _have_ to, I _choose_ to.
> isn't that something like a "wing and a prayer"?
No, that's something like a "damn good vehicle."
You can spell check me
> forever but run that same spell check for dodgers auto
> tranny's/dependability in general and see where you wind up.
That makes a lot of sense.
Here's the deal: Every auto manufacturer on the planet, no matter how good
their reputation is, has rolled some duds off the assembly line. You got
unlucky and got a bad Dodge and now you're pissed about it. I've never been
curious enough to go into the other NG's to see how many Ford and Chevy
owners are singing the blues about the problems they've had with their
"perfect" vehicles, but I bet you they're doing it. To what extent (more or
less than Dodge owners), I don't know, and to be honest, I don't give a
rat's ass. I'm happy with my truck. It does everything that I need it to do
and that's all that matters to me. I bought it in May of '96 with 55k on the
odometer, and other than scheduled maintenance and normal wear-and-tear
items, I've spent less than $500 to keep it running and looking like new.
As far as the auto tranny goes, I'll agree that they need to upgrade certain
aspects of it. The cheap "quick-release" fittings on the transmission lines
need to go. They need to put a different torque converter (read "lower
stall") in front of them to get the best performance from the diesel. And
the one problem that I had, and that I think is the root of many of these
complaints, was the TPS going bad (that was $170 of the estimated repair
costs). But if I only have to spend that much money every 5-7 years, no
problem.
Come talk to me when you've got 149,000 miles on yours (if it lasts that
long) and let's compare costs.
Good luck.
