I just purchased an addco rear sway bar kit for my 96 2wd 1500 RAM, an was
just curious about how it mounts. The bar mounts to the axel by bolting to
the lower shock mounts. Are the lower shock mounts strong enough to handle
the extra strain? Just seems odd to me, don't most rear sway bars mount
with u-bolts directly to the axle housing?

Has anyone else used these Addco swaybar kits?

My Dakota R/T's swaybar mounts to the shock mounts. I know a lot of other
vehicles don't, but this must be a Dodge thing.

I've had the Addco sway bar on the back of my '95 Dakota for five years
now. No problems yet, and it really improved the handling.

I installed a 1-1/8" thick ADDCO rear swar bar on my 86 Chev C10 about
10 years ago, and STILL love it. It dramatically improved handling by
increasing oversteer/reducing understeer. No more plowing.

Only issues I had were original rubber link bushings wore out in a
couple of years, so I replaced them with urethane.

This mod, with the addition of BFG 275/60-16 Comp TA tires, made this
truck stick LIKE GLUE.
