Dealer gave me the VIN of the truck I have on order today XS26 and 4 more
numbers.

Only 8 digits total. Does this look like a real VIN or is it missing
something?

Is there any way to decode it? I'm interested if it's made in Warren or
Mexico.
TIA

...You'd think that it would be the last 6- the serial number... I have a
used car dealership and in our industry that's how we track cars... by their
year and their "last six"

They can track your truck using only 8 digits. They often only ask me for the
last 8 when dealing w/ customer service or the dealer's service dept.

For the difference between Michigan and Mexico, you only need the very
first digit of the VIN; 1=USA, 3=Mexico.

It may be part of a number. According to a 'VIN guru' friend of mine vin
numbers are always 17 characters and do not include the letters I (eye), O,
Q. What you have is not the complete number.

The dealer didn't give you the "VIN" (vehicle identification number), he
gave you the "VON" (vehicle order number). This is how Chryco and their
dealers track their orders. Remember, a vehicle doesn't get a VIN until it
is built (or ready to be built). Use the VON when calling to inquire about
your order. Also, ask your dealer where your truck will be assembled.

Actually, no. I received both a 8 digit VIN and a 4 digit VON that I know is
partial. Status of last report was D1, which I believe is scheduled for
build. TIA for any reply.
