I have a 99 4x4 Durango and would like to tow it behind my motorhome on
a dolly. What is the recommended way. I am assuming front wheels up, but
am concerned that the rear drive shaft will spin without the torque
converter and burn the tranny?
Any input on this subject is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
John

Put the transfer case in neutral. Your owners manual should tell you that.
I can tow my Durango that way with all 4 wheels on the ground and a tow bar.

What do you tow it with? I have a 31' Class C and I am worried about braking and
was wondering if there are tow dolly's with brakes.

Have only towed it once with my 2500 diesel Ram. It did push me a tad but
the brakes on the ram held up fine. I used a universal tow bar from a
friend. It was not the best of fits in my eyes but good enough for the
short trip I took it. It was more as an experiment then anything. Do not
know of any dollies that have brakes but do know there are kits to add brake
control to the rear brakes of the towed car. Camping World I think has it.
It is an electric add on to your cars brake system that will act like
electric brakes on a trailer. Never used it so don't know haw well it
works.

What I've found is that there are tow dollies with brakes but have not found one
that is rated for a vehicle over 4400 pounds, and the Durango weighs 4623
according to Dodge. So I will have to look into towing 4 down with a good brake
system. The dolly would have been ideal as it could be used with other vehicles
and the cost is very comparative.
Thanks

Since the size is the same, how about a tandem axle trailer. just about the
same size and no wear on the expensive Durango.
