I am hoping someone can give me some good information to help me with this
problem. I have replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor (DSS/VSS) and replaced the
harness, and now the speedometer works, but the odometer *still* does not work,
and the truck still will not shift into overdrive. Everything else works fine.
Any suggestions as where to look next?

Please let me know if anyone can help out.
Thanks!!!

Check the brake light switch and the overdrive relay. There are three relays
on the driver's side near the hood hinge. One is for the "lock up"
converter, one is overdrive and I don't remember what the other one is but
it's not transmission related.

If the vehicle speed sensor is bad the speedometer will not work.

Ok... if they are in the ECM or not, does anyone know how to fix it??? That
was my question.

Hey WTF!! We are supposed to diagnose things for these people anyway. Just
because they don't mention what the problem is shouldn't be an issue. 'Cause
they will call us jerks if we don't have a correct answer for them. Remember
the SF with the Durango brake pads.

Right - just like the guy that gave out a big F-U to just about everyone
here for not telling him that he had an inch of gravel in his gas tank
(common problem, right?).

Face it... we all suck. I don't know why people continue to pay us for all
this bad advice....

... oh yeah, that's right - they don't pay us.

Man, this is unreal ... in my ORIGINAL post, which I guess got lost in the
argument between where the problem lies, I had asked for help as to why my
truck does not shift into overdrive and why the odometer does not work. I have
replaced the Speed Sensor and now my speedometer works (kinda), but the other
things still do not. Now, would someone PLEASE give me some advice I can use
to fix this problem instead of irrelevant nonsense or arguments as to who is
wrong or who is supposed to be mind readers or not????
Thank you to anyone who is willing to help without being a flamer or a
wise-a**.
