hi,

I have noticed several dodges that lean a little on the drivers side. Mine
and my fathers are about an inch lower on the drivers side than on the
passengers side. Its not that the frame is bent or the weight of a full
tank. Is there an adjustment on the spring in the rear? Can it be fixed?

Mine droops also, and I measured from the top of the front wheel
openings on the fender where there is a 1 1/16" difference. I measured
at the frame rails and there is a 7/8" difference.
To me it seems that the right front spring is the culprit, but I have
not taken the springs out to preform a measurement yet. I have 51,500+
miles on the truck as of today, and will wait til the ball joints need
to be replaced.
I also have taken a measurement at the rear wheel openings on the
fender, and find that there is 7/8" difference and at the frame in the
rear, there is a 13/16" difference. It does look like there is a shim
between the box and frame mount on the left side, however I will
investigate this further.
Glad that someone made the post, as I thought that mine was the only
truck with the lean problem.

Every Dodge truck that I've owned leans to the drivers side 1/2" to
3/4" at the front wheels. An old timer front end guy told me that was
normal. It may be the weight of the fuel, design to deal with the
slope in the road or ? Nothing to worry about, if you start measuring
things you will find all sorts of things that don't line up or fit
properly. Could make a perfectionist crazy.

if you really want to know, measure the wheel wells at the center of
of hub.

Just for the fun of it, I went out and measured my 97 Dakota. First
problem was finding an absolutely level parking spot.....very,
difficult. Any way, here is the results....front 1/8" to 1/4" lean
(different flat spots) to drivers side on front .... full tank of
fuel. No lean in the rear, until I moved to another spot, then a 1/4"
lean to the passenger side, but the front was almost leve.

This can make you crazy.

leads me to think the fender is hung a little crooked...no big deal, I
have a 1/4" difference in the gap from cab to box from side to side.

should find one of those old truck weighing stations. i think that
weighing platform is absolutely level.
Anyway. i did notice that my ( 8-way poer with lether " might make a
diffrence " ) seat is crushed a little on the left side making me
feel of kilter a little. Is this my emagination or what?

Are the left and right leaf springs the same on these trucks? The reason I
ask is because on some older Mopar musclecars, the right spring had an extra
half-leaf to control axle wind-up and wheel hop with those high-torque
motors. This caused some of those cars to lean toward the driver's side.
Maybe Dodge returned to some "good ol' days" engineering to help control the
torque output on these trucks? They may not have an extra half-leaf, but
may be higher-rate springs on the passenger side......

My '76 PW does the same thing! If I tilt my head a little it doesn't so
bad.
