Hello all -

On my 1980 C3, everytime it rains, a puddle collects on the carpet on the
passenger side where people put there feet. It doesnt appear to be coming
from windows or t-tops, but rather the wet area seams to head up the
floorboard toward the engine. Any ideas? Its making my car stink extremely
bad.

My 1985 soaks me when I go through the car wash. Everyone knows about
the bad seals on corvettes, and I also sometimes get some water inside my
vetter after it rains. I bet the seals on your passenger side is your
problem.

You know I was going to ask the same question but didnt have the time to
post..

My 81 is doing the same exact thing and it drive you nuts.. I noticed that
it was leaking in a crack near the w/s wipers that some GM caulk fell out
of. So I used 3M strip caulk and that one is fixed.. but it still does it
just not as much..

Listen to this one:

My friend owned a 68 till a few years ago. When the car was 1 year old in
1969 his did the same thing. He told me it drove him nuts too. Turns out it
was leaves and debris accumulating in the sides and bottom of the fenders.
There are screens next to the windshield . Most people pitch them
eventually. The water should drain down the sides and out the bottom. But
the leaves plug it next to the frame rail and create a "trap" like in a
sink. He said if he had a lite rainfall it wouldnt do it but if it was heavy
it kind of backed up and got through a seam behind the kick bad. It has
been so cold here in Chicago that I havent had time to get under the car and
look.

Currently I have 3/8" of water on my drivers side.

That's the same thing ours does, but because of where I live now it doesn't
stay wet enough to mildew. When I replaced the carpets, the 80's technology
padding smelled pretty bad. Replacing the old padding made a huge
difference. I suspect a leaking windshield, but that's only a guess. I've
never gotten my 82 to stop leaking completely but when I changed out the
windshield the problem was 90% cured.
