Gearbox for 300hp SB Ford, suggestions???

Hi guys,

I have a SVO 5.0L crate motor that ford got 345hp out of, I am using a
road demon instead of FI so will probably be closer to 300hp and about
the same in torque.

I want a 5-speed manual trans that will handle this without spending
$3K on a Richmond. I have heard the T10's are pretty weak so anyone
have a better suggestion?

If it was mine id adapt a muncie m-22 benid it, these were with 454s
and held up well but their only 4 speeds.

M-22`s were available behind the 396/325 hp,and a few select small
blocks.You can buy 2 trans. for the price of a good M-22............I don`t
think 300hp is going to hurt the factory 5 speed,as long as you don`t use
the 4cyl. trans.I know of several Mustangs locally with over 400hp running
factory trans.One is a 351 Cobra(?).I sold a TVR w/5.0 producing
350+hp.Never had a problem.M-22?Who wants to loose overdrive?
