Hey guys, I just finished creating a picture illustrated step by step write up for replacing any of the bulbs in the headlight assembly of an 08-12 Malibu.

It does require at least partially removing the front bumper cover. :( But it's actually not that bad of a process once you've done it once.

Here's the gallery and instructions - http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/2008-2012-GM-Chevrolet-Malibu-Headlight-Bulbs-Replacement-Guide/

I took 105 detailed pictures of the dis-assembly and re-assembly procedures. So just about anyone should be able to get this done and save some $$$ instead of taking it to the dealership.

I hope someone finds it to be useful.

Cheers,
Paul

This will be really helpful. Any estimation on how long this should take a first timer? I've got to perform this surgery for my parents.

Makes no sense why they made it so complicated.

It took me about 2 hours. Whoever thought this was a good design is an idiot. Good luck. :)

This is why GM went BK...they deserved to.

Actually makes perfect sense. Make a simple maintenance item so complicated that people give up and take it to the dealership. A former dealer mechanic told me they charge $150 and only do one side. If the engineers were forced to repair the cars they design, maybe we'd see less of this.
