I have a 94 Z28 a couple of weeks i was driving down the freeway and I
noticed smoke coming out the back.I took it to my mechanic and we noticed
the cause of it was that tranny oil was leaking on the exhaust.I didnt get
it fix at that time due to a lack of funds.I drove the car home like that
and on the way home it did not do it.I drove it for another week and it did
not do it til just recently it started smoking again, and yet after noticing
it I drove it again like that and did not smoke or saw any oil leaking.I
think its a gasket or something ,but why does it take a weeks break before
doing it again?any ideas?

Best way is to get your ass underthere and look for yourself. Wipe the pan
clean then go drive it.... See where it leak from. Most likely the pan
gasket from your last "Penzoil Quick Micky Oil Change Shop" job.... I hate
those shops.

It sounds like you have the intake manifold leak that seems to plauge LTx
engines in these cars. Look at the rear of the intake manifold, if there is a
trail of oil you have probably found your problem. This would also explain why
it takes about a week to reappear as it is generally a slow leak. There is a
TSB number 77-61-17 OCT 97 that tells about this problem. If you decide to
repair the leak try looking at
www.fl-fbody.com/members/bfranker/fbody/guides.htm.
FWIW I have the same problem on my 95 and I decide it was easier to clean up
the oil every couple of months, however mine is very small so it doesn't
smoke......
If this is truly the problem and you decide to just clean it when it gets dirty
do not get the optispark wet. It is not vented on the 94's and is pretty
expensive to repair.
Good luck.
