Yesterday, my low oil light came on when I started up my 95 Trans Am. I drove
to the store, checked my oil, and it was at the proper level according to the
dipstick. I started the car, and the light didn't come on. Today, I started
the car, and the light came on. I drove to work, checked the oil, still the
same on the dipstick. I checked under the car, nothing leaking. Started the
car after work, and the light came on. Drove to the store again, checked the
oil, still the same. I left the store, light didn't come on.

I had the oil changed about 1000 miles ago, so I know it isn't that. The car
drives fine, no changes in engine temp, oil pressure or battery level. What
gives? The only thing I can think of, is possibly change in weather? Temp has
gone down about 25-30 degrees over the last few days. Anyone have any clues?
Thanks in advance.

You didn't state if you checked the oil when it's cold (that is in the pan, not
the engine). Not to be a wise ass, but ascertain that the level is correct cold
first.

Barring that you are low on oil, there is most likely a low oil pressure sensor
in the block or pan area. Check that the plug has not come loose, if not, I'd
say your problem is there.

Good luck...

I would agree. A loss of pressure would also set that light off (or if the
computer thought there was a loss). Install gauges. MUCH more info and safer
too.
