I have a 1968 Firebird and the fuel gauge is incorrect. This past weekend I
filled the fuel tank and the fuel gauge needle was on full. I then drove
the car
until the fuel gauge showed just above empty.

I then filled the tank again and was only able to put in 10.5 gallons of
gas.
So there should have been 7.5 gallons, a little over 3/8 full, left in the
18 gallon tank.

Is the fuel tank sending unit causing the incorrect fuel gauge reading?
I would appreciate any input on how to fix this problem.

Thanks in advance,

Don

Don:
Many, if not most, of the cars I've owned have had a lot left in the
tank when the needle reaches empty. I wouldn't sweat it - besides, its
better to fill up early than to run out of gas someplace.

Don't use Classic Industries, they never have parts in stock, and they sell
junk, more than half the parts I have gotten from them for my 68 rs either
did not fit rite or looked like shit. Go with Year One, I have had a much
better experience with them.

You wouldn't possibly work there, now, would you?

Mike,

you really don't like Classic Ind. Do you. 2nd time today I
read not to use them from you. I can tell you that I've either gotten
or bought hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from them and
haven't had any worse experience with their parts than with any body
elses parts. eg. Ricks,JC Whitney,Year One,Paddock, etc. Just have to
research the parts before buying them. Go to major swap meets and ask
people who have used certain parts. Vendors are usually happy to talk
with you. Besides do you think that they got as big as they are from
selling junk?
