Let's all give each other some feedback on what brands of cars seem to always be
driven by assholes. You know the type...they never signal, tailgate, cut you
off, etc. Of course, drivers of Firebirds and Camaros never behave in this
manner, we are considerate and courtious drivers...right? :)
I'll begin....

Toyota Camry's
Any and all BMW's
Most Mercedes (in fact, most german made cars)
Most Honda's (and more and more every day!)

anyone else?
Do not send me spam. It will make me mad. You would not like me if I got mad.

1. Any Lexus (especially SC400s - pssst, it's a TOYOTA)
2. Most BMWs (especially Z3s - pssst, "ragtop" does not
translate to "race car" so get off my ass!)
3. Some Mercedes, most are just oblivious to their
surroundings, vehicular law and physics don't
apply to those vehicles or their operators
4. Anything more than one color primer
5. Anything with roller-skate rims/tires

While crusing from Milwalkee to Chicago I noticed a Honda Civic bobbing
and weaving thru traffic. As he , without a signal, dove in front of me,
I noticed his licence place--- CUTUOFF. Pretty gutsy, to be bragging
about it. If I ever see this car in a parking lot, or one with similar
bragging, it may end up with no valve stems.

Now, for the cars driven by a-holes... whatsamattuguys!?!? NOBODY has mentioned
4 wheel drive SUBARUs! Guess you have to live in the northeast to appreciate the
fact that 8 of ten vehicles off the road, wheels up, in the winter are subaru
4wd wagons...(Stoopidru, as my brother says...)... The other 2 of the ten are

Thats what a lot of people say about the 3 series. I just love that
BMW feel, and the balance between ride/handling. I know the M3
emphasis is more on handling, and I haven't been in one yet. I like
the 5 series too. Its amazing they can make a big 4 door that handles
so well yet still rides nice. I was in a 525I 5 ('94 or so) 5 speed,
nice car. This kid I used to hang out with had a crazy experience in
a 325I. He was driving his g-friends car, and he had just lost his
license (I wonder why) and he saw a cop doing radar as he was doing
about 85. It was at night, and he got scared so he nailed it, and
took off, then took a curvy exit and managed to get away. That car
was an auto 325I, and he said the top end felt stronger then his 5.0.
He said the handling was awesome, he said it was as if the car knew
where it was going before he did. I hope everyone doesn't reply
telling me what an idiot he is, he knows it was stupid buthe just
panicked.

Why do actually damage to the valve steams? Just get a valve core
remover, pull all 4 valve cores and leave them on the roof, or in a body
line of the car.

Charlie, here's one better: Just loosen a couple of cores 1/2 turn and
put the caps back on. The slow leak will drive the putz crazy. Back in
my Jr. College days we did this to one of our
friend's-sister's-asshole-boyfriend. He had this beater 240Z and thought
he was hot shit (always putting our cars down). We did one at a time,
every now and then. This week it'd be the left front, next week the
right rear, and so on. We kept him going for a couple of months and he
NEVER caught on! The hardest part was trying to keep a straight face
around him (actually the hard part was to keep from kicking his ass, but
we refrained).

Psycological warfare is by FAR the best!

Phil.

Thats just because I didnt put a SBC or BBC in my Mini Van *yet*.
I hardly loose in my van, just because some one is sporting a V8 and
thinks there bad dont mean if I need in that lane that I will be behind
them. If you ever see a Astro Van with a Ohio tags that read FLM 130 and

Old people in big cars, Buicks, Olds, Caddys..

You know the type, big cars, bald heads, and big blocky sunshades.

I hate the way they seem to just pull out right infront of you, and then
accellerate at their own pace.. appx 1/10 throttle to 35 mph in a 55 will
do.. Then when you bitch at them or honk your horn becuase they pull out
infront of you, they wave their hands like it's YOUR fault....

You have to be a certain age to drive, I think there should be a certain
age cutoff where you CAN'T drive.. it's to hazardous... especially for us
cyclists...

Yup, that's always the case. I don't know about anyone else on here, but
whenever I'm about to pull out of a side street, or merge, and theres
a car coming and -none- behind it, I'll wait and go behind them. Why tax

How about, when theres a car a ways in front of you, and they wait halfway
between that guy and you to finally decide to pull out, essentially cutting
you off when they could have come out right after the guy.

But if it is functional it is not that bad. I hate people that put hood
scoops on cars and never make then functional... A guy I went to school
with wanted me to do that once, I told him if I put it on there is going
to be a hole in your hood so that I can say I never installed a non
functional hood scoop.
GDit I really hate posers that have non-functional hood scoops, or other

stuff that gives people that actully make there cars better a bad name.

I absolutely agree Charlie! On the other hand, I have no argument with
mods done "fer-looks" either, as long as they're tasteful (and that
definition varies). The L-88 hood on my Monza (NEW PICS ON MY WEB PAGE!)
is functional, but it's function right now is letting some hot air outta
the engine compartment.

I added the rear wing to my Grand Prix, 'cause I always wanted one and
decided WTF. I got the factory original part from my pal at the Chevy
dealer that I've been buying stuff from for 20 years. I was gonna paint
it myself until I figured out the paint shop around the corner would do
it and guarantee it for $20.00 more than it would cost me to buy the
materials!

I DID install it myself (NO thanks to the blueprint that came with the
wing! If I had trusted it and not measured, it would have wound up 3/8"
to the left, and I'd have had to file keyholes). Is it functional? Well,
it IS a wing form, and air flow past it DOES create downforce, but at
the speeds I drive it's insignificant. If anything it probably took the
drag coefficient from .29 (published) to ~.30.

I guess to sum it up, I try to look at every change or addition I make
to a car with the question in mind: "What would the original design team
think if they saw this?". If I think they'd say "well, that doesn't
suck..." I'll go for it. The L-88 hood on my Monza is a prime example.
To me, it fits the lines of the hood perfectly, and looks like it
belongs there.

http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/4940/carpage.html

I FINALLY found more recent negatives of the car, but they're a little
washed-out. In between Mother's day activities today, I will try to get
out my camcorder, notebook, and Snappy (video grabber) and make some
direct scans for the page. BTW, I got an e-mail the other day from a guy
that has a Mirage kit he's thinking of selling (ever see a Mirage?).

Later...

I going to MEND with Patrick "Igloo Boy" Gattafoni, as in im his

June/Beginning of July is the time when I have the least amount of funds

Thats surprising because around here UPS drivers always drive very
defensively. I work for UPS from 5-10 during the week, and its quite
hard to become a driver. In time the money is decent and most of
those guys have an excellent work ethic and are very responsible. If
the package is late that is a reflection of the HUB, not the drivers.

to answer your question what kind of cars are driven by assholes?
the words "ford owner" are synonimious with asshole basically any one who
drives a 5.0 they always have something to prove because they have slow
cars the feel the need to race camaros to try and beat one eventually.
just kidding 5.0s are not all that slow but their owners always want to

Might be a price thing. Older 'stangs' are fairly inexpensive (for a
V-8) which may attract people who have a little money, but not much
maturity yet. Who knows...maybe its a regional thing.

On the lower gear front, If I'm not in a lower gear with my 4.6 Cobra
when the guy next to me decides to go...I'm toast. This makes for
some very strange antics, on my part, which can't be maintained for
very long (without starting to look pretty stupid). A torquier 5.0 or
GM 350 would certainly have much less reason to hold lower gears
excessivly. If I had a lower rear (3.27 is stock) I could get up in
the power band a little faster and act a little calmer.

I've got to say, though, that most real muscle car drivers are pretty
selective about getting aggressive. They can't play all the time
without drawing attention and getting tickets...and they don't have
much to prove and just enjoy the the sensation of driving a fast car.

People out looking for trouble all the time must feel inferior somehow
and obviously don't get out with the car much or they would have lost
their license long ago (do they even own the cars there're in??)

My vote for Asshole Drivers goes to Monster trucks (who throw their
weight around, and have good performance compared to most cars) and
Vans driven by people trying to emulate traffic barricades (can't even
see over or around them to see if anything else is moving)

Long live Detroit Iron....Looks like its gonna survive!!!

Forgive the length, but I must bitch....

I responded to this post long ago with my
list of cars driven by ***holes. But after
my experience yesterday, I'd like to add
2 more.

Jeep Grand Cherokees. Not all drivers,
but with a vehicle that popular, some
idiots are bound to wind up with one.
I got in a little tiff with one yesterday.
I live in a 80 year old neighborhood, and
the streets are very narrow and there
are lotsa kids in the street in the AM
waiting for school buses. This guy uses
the neighborhood to cut 1/10th of a second
off his commute by flying through and avoiding
one stoplight on Rt. 46. I see him do it daily,
as I leave at the same time every day (evidently,
so does he). Yesterday, I decided that he should
probably not be going 50 in a 25, and if he hit
me going that fast, he'd likely be at fault.
At a distance that would have been safe had he
been going 25, or even 35, I pulled out. This
was met with a lot of horn honking and light
flashing and attempts to pass me on the very
narrow street. His passing attempts failed,
he was behind me at the stop sign, both of us
lefting. The guy on the corner hasn't trimmed
his bushes in 95 years, so it's impossible to
see oncoming traffic unless you inch up a little
at a time. He grew impatient with my apprehension
to getting broadsided and began the honking and
light flashing. Grrrr. I pull out, and he pulls
out right behind me with no regard for the stop
sign or the traffic. All I can see is Grand
Cherokee in my rear view when I get to Rt. 46.
As I approach the light at the 35 MPH speed
limit, which is obviously killing him, it turns
yellow. Realizing that I will probably come
to a complete stop before making the right
on the impending red, he goes FLYING through
the gas station on the corner to skip the
light - narrowly missing cars waiting for
gas and the attendant, and attempts to dart
out onto 46 ahead of me. But I didn't come
to a complete stop for the right on red, and
blew through it and met him. Just before
impact he locked 'em up, and he darted out
behind me, cutting off all the traffic that
just left the light - bad. Why these things
happen to me, I don't know. I don't think
it's unreasonable for people to show a little
respect for the posted speed limit in residential
areas with kids standing around. I agree that
some limits are artificially low, but come on now.

Car #2 - Acura, any black one. I'm not going
to elaborate because I've wasted enough band
width, but this idiot made my bad day even
worse by forgetting what the word "yield"
means. I left a 25 ft. patch of rubber
trying to avoid that f*cking thing pulling
out onto Rt. 80 at 5 MPH when I'm going
60. I had to cut across 2 lanes to
avoid him - he just kept coming farther
and farther over with no regard for the
fact I was skidding next to him. He did
signal, though.....and once I skidded to
an almost complete stop, he raced away
after giving me the finger for honking.
I honestly thought he didn't see me,
but apparently he did - no response
to the honking other than the gesture.

Ok, Around the greater Boston area there's a three-way tie for the top
spot.

1) Any BMW; the lower the series# (cheaper car), the greater the
arrogance.

2) Saabs; Do these people know that General Motors owns 50% of the
company that makes their car?

3) Volvos! Wagons even!

Next we have the Japanese segment:
Over priced Toyolets. aka Lexus
Over priced Hondas. aka Acura
Over priced Nissans. aka Infiniti

Anyone in the above group is suffering from an SPS disorder (Small Penis
Syndrome) and needs the car to make him feel like he's worth something.

We seem to have an overabundance of DYKES driving Accords and Civics like
their driving the "Cambridge" Gran Prix. You can tell them by the little
pink triangles or rainbow triangles on the car. That and the driver looks
like a teenage boy.

Oh, don't forget the moron with the 4-door Camry "Gold Package" that also
has the "Racing Spoiler" on the rear deck. (We're not supposed to notice
the baby seat in the car, though. He's cool.) His wife is in the car with
a confused look on her face as the "cool" one tries to keep up to you car.
She longs for those days with her ex-boyfriend and his 1970 GTO.

ANYONE using a phone while driving gets free admission into the asshole

I agree with you. I always drive slow when I know kids are out, usually
abour 20 in a 25 zone. I live in a naborhood that always has alot of
kids around, of all ages, and some parents that do not care if there
kids play in traffic(I have thought about hurting the *parents* for
that). One of the 2 main roads in to my naborhood usually has cars
parked on both sides of the road at one spot where kids almost always
play at. It as also the same spot that people try to play chicken with
you heading at you around 55mph! Since I alwas have car s that rummble
some people assume that I am doing 30 when I am doing 20, just because
of the sounds my engin makes. Turth be know I would rather drive my car
in to one of the nice brick houses around here than hurt a hair on a
kid.

One day about a year ago this guy in a Caravan comes flying down the
afor mentioned spot on the afor mentioned road and buzzes a small kid. I
swear he we like with ni a inch of hitting him. I looked and the kid was
ok, and right after the spot is a intersection. I droped it ddown to
first started my turn, light up the tires for the right amout of
slide(gotta love the way a Chevelle turns) and went to purse this butt
munch. I guess the guy caugh sight of me running up on him(I was not
going to let this SOB get away), and he started trying to ditch me in a
place I have lived since 1980. I cased him out of the naborhood, out on
to a major road, all the time keeping 2-3 car leinghts behind him.
He jumped on the freeway for 2 miles thinking he could lose me, I let
him think he had while I knew what he was up to. He got back off and
when he got close to my naborhood I pulled around him, stoped him(he
about hit me) and came with in a inch of beating him up. Next time I saw
this guy he was driving a nice& safe 15 MPH thru my naborhood.

Ok, this story is more about an asshole in a GOOD car. I'm driving down
the freeway in the fast lane doing about 77 mph. In the next lane over I'm slowly
overtaking a white 96 SS Camaro. The first thing I notice is the spoiler with the
subtle up-swerve on the tip. I always thought those were neat. The second thing
I notice is his license plate ring/border which says KMA 367 . These are/were the
call letters of the police radios. In Los Angeles the police are given 2 of these
rings to put on their cars to let other cops know that the car belongs to a cop so
don't bother pulling it over. As everyone knows cops don't give cops tickets as a
rule.
Anyway I'm slowly passing the SS and he's about a car length behind me
when all of a sudden he passes me going about 10 mph faster than me and
accelerating. I'm in my 96 LT4 Vette by the way. So cop or no I can't let that
challange go and not respond. So I punch it and pull right behind him since there
are cars on both sides. We stay that way up to about 110 when he makes a lane
change cutting someone off. I like driving fast but I don't usually cut people
off so I drop back a go around the other side of the car he cut off and take my
off ramp. He's at the bottom of the ramp and I pull up behind him. When the
light changes he jumps on it and so do I. I stay a car and a half to two cars
behind him on up to about 85. Our cars are about as equal as two different cars
can be. I'm all in it and can't make up even a bumpers worth and he isn't pulling
away a bumpers worth. He slows down for traffic anjd we make a left turn and my
lane is moving faster so I'm ahead of him at the next right turn street. When the
light changes I turn right and jump on it. He's with me for awhile but then drops
back for traffic or doesn't want to play anymore, I don't know.
We pull up to the next light which is always a long one and I motion for
him to lower his window, he does and I ask him "You're a cop right?." He says no.
Then I ask "What about the license plate?." Confronted with the evidence he says
"Yeah I'm a cop." We talk for a minute and a half and during the short
conversation he mentions that he's done work to the car and it runs in the 12's.
I'm thinking to myself "Yeah right, if he was in the 12's he would have just
driven away from me it wouldn't even have been a race." I've already caught him
in one lie and now he's trying to tell me another. Doesn't he even remember what
just happened 3 minutes before. I turn my way and he goes his. Cops - sheeesh.

I got another one!!

NSX drivers that park in handicapped spots. Saw one
yesterday. The guy was obviously not handicapped in
anyway, nor did he have handicapped plates or DMV
placard. AND it wasn't even his car - had used
car dealer plates on it. Custom paint, a pearl
blue/purple - neat but he parked in handicapped
while I circled for hours looking for a spot to
buy 1 item at Home Depot. Luckily, there was a
cop patrolling the fire lanes (people like to
park there, too) and he spotted the offending
NSX. $250 minimum ticket. Not much for an
NSX OWNER, but probably a lot for a used car
salesman.

Hey, dont stereotype NSX owners, I've never once parked in a handicapped
spot, but I have seen some older fbodies drivers who were only mentally
handicapped taking up handicapped spaces.

I've been driving my '88 Mustang since early in '88. I was young then,
and after racing a couple times, I wanted to race all the time. I lost
my very first race because I revved the engine and dumped the clutch.
Needless to say, my opponent was halfway down the quarter mile before I
started moving. We raced again and I eased it out of the hole and
smoked him. After that, the only time I'd lose a race is if I lost
traction. So being young, in good shape (I was 6 months out of the Navy
after attending BUD/S) and not as ugly as your average small-town sap,
and a car that was faster than everything else around except for some
serious strip cars that weren't driven on the street, one develops an
attitude.

Eventually, my racing migrated from the street to the strip, and I grew
up a bit. Now, I don't challenge people anymore. I don't do anything
obnoxious. When I drive the Mustang, I drive it like I drive my other
car (a four-banger).

So I won't say Ford drivers or Mustang drivers are assholes. Just young
ones mostly in quick cars--ANY quick cars. And if anybody drives around
being an asshole with something to prove, it's more likely the
DSM-driver who's turned up the boost trying to prove their hair-dried
4-banger is superior to your V8.

I have the mixed fortune of living in Key Largo, FL. We get millions
of tourists every year, and I have seen some of the most hairbrained
driving in the entire world occur right in front of my stunned eyes.
My -second day back- in town after being gone for 5 months, I saw one
of the greatest ones yet. This older Lincoln is plodding along in the
right lane, doing around 35 in a 50, leaving a smaller car haplessly
trapped behind it as I was about to casually cruise by on the left
(the road is 4 lane highway), doing the speed limit. The opposite
two lines are separated by a thick patch of trees in the median for
about a mile, thus sometimes confusing some people (mostly european
tourists who are still unused to driving on the right side of the road
in the first place) into going the wrong way on the 4 lane when
there's little or no traffic. This is almost understandable. The
road's poorly marked, it's a new country, new surroundings, etc. But
what I saw absolutely blew my mind. The road is 4 lane for at least 8
miles before this clump of trees, it's not exactly a news update to
someone who's been driving on it for more than a few miles. Anyway,
this -stupid Lincoln- suddenly hangs a -hard left turn- from the
-right lane-, right across my path, as it decides it want to stop at
Domino's pizza. I was far back enough to react, but I couldn't
believe the -stupendous- amount of stupidity that move took. And then
the driver exceeded -all- my expectations and proceeded to -PULL OUT
OF THE PARKING LOT AND HEAD THE WRONG WAY- down the road he'd -JUST
BEEN DRIVING ON FOR THE PAST 5 MILES-. I pulled off onto the shoulder
and watched, sure that I was gonna have to help someone out of a
headon collision. This guy went the wrong way for around half a mile,
before I finally saw his taillights brighten and his car quickly
swerve off the road. Luckily, he didn't get into a wreck.. That one
truly blew my mind.

Yeah, what is the DEAL with minivans. I usually do my highway driving
on I-95. Posted 70. I run 76. (Well except for that run to 130 a few

The biggest retards on the road are without question any form of

retarded the driver. I think the Canadians actually have drool cups

Oh great, now this fuckwit White Tornado has found AACF as well (for
those that don't read ramfm this dickhead thinks Supras and RX7s are the
best cars in the world!) Maybe one day you'd like to come up to Canada

So anyone who goes slower than you is an idiot, and anyone who goes
faster than you is a maniac. What an incredibly arrogant ass.

What's a Winnabago? Is that sort of like a camero?

the biggest assholes on the road are old people. they cause mor wreacks
and don't even know they caused them. i got run off the road by an old
grandma in a lincon it broke 2 of the rims on my car and because i spun
and was facing the wrong way in traffic i could not get her license
number. the damm bitch didn't even stop. old people have probly lost the
ability to drive well due to their age but they wont admit that they are
getting old and they continue to drive well beyond the age that they
should because they dont want to think they are old and they really can't
drive. this is a major problem in lubbock tx where you have texas tech and
a bunch of old people in one town. there ought to be some kind of driving
test that old people should take every year to make sure they are still
coherent enough to drive.

FIX OR REPAIR DAILY(FORD) ---i agree. Every time I come across a stang,i
end up racing. but the thrill is when you beat the shit out of them. i
drive a camaro so i with you man. the bad thing about it is that i'm a
girl, so it's really a challenge to the average stang driver. chevy rules
and always will.
