Hello out there...

been a while since I've posted, but my 83 E24 is having some trouble... It
cranks just fine, but won't catch at all... I think its a solenoid/relay
problem somewhere... Can someone send me a scan of the fuse box diagram on
my 6 or tell me exactly which relays to check out and test? The TDC sensors
seem to be fine, cleaned the off even. (these would be the two that go to
the bell housing) Any other ideas of what I should check, like voltages at
injectors, etc?

Any help is greatly appreciated... I hate having to drive a borrowed
american autobox... :(
I miss my 6.

Sam .. Chiltons makes a manual with your electric charts in it.. The
book # is 8789 and I know it can be bought at Bavarian Auto
Sport(1-800-535-2002).. It also can be picked up at a book store for a
little less, but they probably will have to order it....

The Bentley 5 manual is much better than the chilton's for these cars
(been there, done that). In general Chilton's wiring diagram's do not
exist, or suck so bad they are next to worthless. If the starter spins
but doesn't engage, your solonoid is probably fried. (I haven't tried
this on a BMW but on my crappy American car...) you can set the key to
"on" position and short the power line with *one* of the solonoid wires.
If it doesn't engage then it's the solonoid for sure. You have to play
with which solonoid wire if it has two. Tune up kits usually have one of
these nice clicker deals that does the spark shower inside a nice clean
plastic switch instead of welding to the bolts on your starter with the
"screw driver" approach.

I haven't done this on a BMW, make sure your key is in the ON position,
no doubt this will blow up something on a BMW, YMMV, etc, etc...

Check with "The Ultimate Garage"-they have original factory ETM's(electrical
troubleshooting manuals) for E24's.
I think they are at www.ultimategarage.com
