What is the difference between these two colors? I am trying to compare the
two colors from the last page of a BMW brochure, but I can't tell the
difference!! I've seen Arctic Silver on a car, how does Titanium Silver
compare? I know it's hard to describe something like this but I appreciate
any effort.

Thanks,

Anthony

At first glance, they look alike, but upon the closer inspection the Titanium
Silver is much sharper than the Arctic Silver. I was shopping for a 98 528i,
and had eliminated the arctic as a color choice. When I returned to finalize
my deal, I did a double-take when I saw a "different" silver. The dealer
explained that Titanium had been one of the most well received colors on the
7-Series, and BMW had just made it available on the 99 5-Series. In my
opinion, it is a richer and deeper color, and side-by-side, makes the Arctic
Silver look almost gray in comparison. PS - in either event, go with the black
interior, the gray interior totally "cheapens" the car.

FWIW, I agree completely with Anthony. I was never a fan of *any* silver
finish, and originally planned to get my 328i in black. After seeing a the
T-silver with black interior, I was sold. I haven't seen it with any other
interior color. Side by side, the T-silver seems a bit sharper, a bit more
"metallic" than the A-silver. Of course, the only way to know is to see
them up-close and personally.

If you're interested, I put a page of pics of my car up on the web for some
of my friends back home. It's actually a "Name the Bimmer" contest page
(sorry -- contest is already over hehe), but there are about 6-7 pics there.
My scanner did some funny things on a couple of the pics, but it might give
you some idea of the look, anyway.

Actually, Titanium Silver has been available on the 3-series (E36 as well as
E46) for a while, including the M3.

Personally, I do like Titanium Silver (I'm ordering it on my car), but I
don't neccesarily like it more than Arctic Silver, and I do wish that it was
not the same exact color as on the other models (just to make it a little
less common).

Hi,

I'd like to know also, since silver is my favorite color for the M3. Anyways
does anyone know what silver comes on the E39 5 series? It has a
bluish-silverish color to it. This is the color I really like!!!

Thanks.

IMHO, Arctic is a conventional metallic "silver" color. Titanium is a
flatter, steel-grey color that looks much whiter than the Arctic, to my
eyes. I liked the Arctic better. YVMV.

Hello,

Haven't looked at the 98 or 99 Brochures, but I have a 97' 528i in Aspen
Silver. It has a bit of a violet tint, and looks great with an Aubegine
interior.

Is the color still available?

I don't recall seeing "Aspen Silver" in any brochures, but perhaps it is one
of the other silver's renamed.

Aspen Silver is a 5-series color, and it is in the brochure. As Anthony
described, is has a violate/lavender tone to it, which you either like or don't
like.

Aspen Silver is the somewhat darker silver that can appear to have a violet
tint to it. Titanium Silver is the color that is replacing Arctic Silver.

Does anyone know if (and if so when) the M-Roadster '99 will be
getting Titanium Silver instead of the current Arctic Silver? I know
(from the dealer) the Arctic Silver is due for discontinuation around
March, but I wasn't told what would replace it. If it's Titanium
Silver, I may want to delay production a month and get the newer
color...I was rushing the production schedule to get the Arctic Silver
fearing there would be NO silver on that model post-March!

Thanks!

Yes, Aspen Silver is still in both the '98 and '99 brochures.

Scott,

I can't imagine them not offering silver on any BMW model.

Remember, though, that it is possible to order a BMW in any color you want.
If it is a color that is in production for other BMW models, then even most
US dealers aren't too scared to offer this. When I was deciding on colors
for my '99 5er, I considered many of the Z3 and E36 colors that aren't
normally available on the 5...
