On the Andy's AR156 page there is some info about differences
in sport packs. Take a look:

Ripped off from somewhere on the Net...
SP1 includes 'Blitz' fabric upholstery, Momo leather steering wheel and
gear knob, instrumentation with red graphics on a black background, front
armrest, third head-restraint and third inertia reel seatbelt, rear armrest
with ski tunnel, an aerial and wiring ready for a GSM phone, body-coloured
side skirts and 16" alloy wheels with 205/55 WR 16 tyres.
The second 'sport pack' SP2 differs from the first in its seats alone,
which are Recaro sports models, while the third (SP3) offers a Momo leather
interior. The latter is available in five colours (Ireland Grey, Leather,
Red, Light Grey and Blue) and can also be chosen as a standalone optional
extra.
Hope this helps

A fantastic medium for spreading information, however accurate it may be :-)
Maybe non-UK? Maybe based on a car that had additional optional equipment?

Right, except it doesn't include front armrest, third head-restraint and
third inertia reel seatbelt, an aerial and wiring ready for a GSM phone.

Correct.

No - it also has a passenger airbag.
As printed:
quote
Sport pack 1: carbon effect console, instruments and controls with black
background, Momo design leather steering wheel, leather gear knob, painted
side skirts, low spring and damper setting, 16" light alloy rims, 205/55 WR
16 6.5Jx16 tyres, Blitz cloth trim.
Sport pack 2: Same as SP1 with Recaro seats and passenger airbag.
Sport pack 3: Same as SP1 with Momo leather seats and passenger airbag.
end quote
From tables in the brochure:
SP1 was available on the 1.8 & 2.0 but not the 2.5. SP2 was available on the
2.0 & 2.5 but not the 1.8. SP3 was only available on the 2.5.
Passenger and side airbags were available as options across the range, as
were 3rd rear inertia reel seat belts and a 3rd head restraint, Momo leather
seats and a sports spoiler.
I think these specs applied to UK cars up to some time in ~2000 (not exactly
sure when), when they stopped offering the sport packs and went to "Veloce"
& "Veloce Leather" trim levels. They stopped offering the lowered suspension
at that point, so the Sport Pack cars should be more sought after than a lot
of the later cars, which all had standard suspension, even in Veloce trim
with the 16" wheels.
Hopefully someone will put this info up on a web site, as the question
comes up every now and again and the information only seems to be documented
in brochures available at the time.

Mark,
sp3 was not only available on 2.5 V6.
Available on 2.0, 2.0 Selespeed & 2.5 V6. Not sure about 1.8 though.
I have a Selespeed sp3, built October 1999.
This has the front armrest and side airbags (both standard fit).
Obviously there were changes to spec over time, for example the sp3 leather
seats had a nice embossed & stitched Alfa logo on the front seats, this was
gradually eliminated between September 2000 (red) and December 2000 (blue).
So for example a 156 sp3 built in November 2000 with blue leather would have
the logo but the red leather would have no logo.

156 Selespeed sp3
I'm sure you're right. The brochure I was quoting from was dated 10/98, so
didn't cover the Selespeed, which was released in the UK in 1999. It
definitely shows SP3 as V6 only, though, so it's either a misprint, or more
likely, things changed in 1999.

According to my technical spec brochure dated 05/2000, the Lusso and
Veloce both have 'Sports Suspension' as standard, but no mention of
what this really means. Given the general state of the roads around
here, I don't think I want to consider lowering mine...
