What is it with dealers these days? Went to the Alfa dealer last week, and
started talking to this sales person about the SportWagon 2.0 Selespeed.
Asked him about the new emision regulations, and asked him whether this was
the reason that the engine was taken down to 150 hp. They guy looked at me
and said: nono you're wrong, only the 147 2.0 engine will have 150 hp;the
156 and the therefore the sportwagon as well will still have 155 hp. I tried
to explain to him that he was the one who was wrong, but in vain... These
guys do get training and updates of specs right?? or maybe i'm wrong
indeed. By the way, what about performance of these new(~) 150hp engines?

ps. I'm very glad I finally found this news group. my previous provider
didn't show this news group, so I could only ask my questions in nl.auto.
Nice people there, but I kinda got tired of the answer "Yeah well, it is an
Alfa, so..." all the time. :)

When I ordered my Selespeed SW last November, I test-drove the 155 bhp
version. I learned from this NG that the engine had lost 5 bhp because of
the
new regulations. My dealer never told me about it, not even when I picked
the
car up last week. I'll bet they haven't got a clue even now.

First impression: the power-burst of 3500 rpm is gone. But the engine seems
more torquey on low rpms.

The car has only 300 kms on it so far, and it's been too cold (below -20 C)
to
really try it out...

I haven't driven a 150HP 156 yet, but what I heard from my dealer, the boost
at 3500rpm is gone, but in place has come a lot more power under 3500rpm.
This is the same that Dutch magazine AutoVisie said after having driven the

I have a 150 bhp 2.0 156 and now run in it drives very nicely indeed. No
lack of power , smooth engine and lovely noise!
