I'm having a hell of a time replacing the low-beam lightbulbs on my
1995 Chevy Blazer. I have the composite headlights, and the top
(low-beam) bulbs are very hard to get at. I removed the air filter for
a better look, and there is a metal piece blocking most of the bulb
assembly.

Is there a special trick to this?

Thanks,

Bob

I've got the same problem with my '96 Jimmy. According to
the shop manual, you remove the grill (4 bolts) and remove the
headlight assembly (2 screws). I haven't done it yet, but I have
a parking light to replace. Also I'm wanting new bulbs, after
138,000mi., they are getting a little dim. HTH, Russ

My wife got hers changed by taking out a deer. Minimal charge for
replacement at the body shop, the fender and hood were a different story
however.

sorry to respond to the "cheatin'" way to replace lights :^)
rather than the original post

though I'll admit to using the same method this winter to ignore
buffing out the passenger side and hood come summer ...

'95 composite beam replacement per my Chiltons (I have a '91 so no
real expereince here)

the composite beam houses the headlamp and side marker light

due to space constraints, no access may be provided to withdrawl the
bulbs, so replacement usually requires removal of the composite
assembly.

precautions = letting the bulb cool b4 changing .. disconnect the
negative terminal off the batt .. wear eye protection

they didn't mention it, but don't touch the bulb they did say to get
no moisture on the new bulb.

they say ...

if replacing the right-side bulb remove the battery from the vehicle

if replacing the left-side bulb remve the intake air box.

remove the grille from the front of the vehicle

remove the retaining screw from the engine side of the radiator
support, then remove the headlight capsule-to-radiator support screws

pull the headlight assembly forward slightly, disengage headlamp and
side marker wiring connectors

R & R

looks like no trick, just a pain.
