we drop the front axle out of it...it's easier than removing the
engine...but only just barely, and then only if you have a rack.

Well, I *am* Big Daddy<g> and for once the Haynes manual agrees with
the factory manual. 10 to 55 lbs, and they're all the same. I think
the blocks are all pretty much the same and most of the differences in
the engines through the years have been in the induction systems.
