I has 225/75-16 street tires on my 92 for the first couple of months
I've owned it. I just switched to 245/75-16 BFG AT's and noticed
it doesn't climb mountains like it used to.
I didn't think that going from the 225/75's to the 245/75's would
have been such a big deal, but I'm actually noticing a difference.
I'm also thinking a tired engine (just rolled over 100k) may be
coming into play on this too though.
So, they say up to a 31x10.5 tire will fit, or according to my
calculations that's a 265/75-16 too.

I have a 4wd 1500 with the 350 in it. It has the TBI.
I think what I'm seeing in the mountains is an engine that needs
a little work. The larger tires just made the problem more
noticable.
In fact, it really wasn't so much a problem with no power as it
was with the tranny downshifting while there was still space
between the pedal an the floor. I sure wish I could put a switch
on the dash to disable the transmission kick-down.
That vortec should handle it better than mine. From what I've
heard, they really made a huge improvement with the Vortec over my
TBI350.
Tell ya what. 265/75's will fit. You're taking a chance with
anything bigger. If they rub do you think the tire shop will
let you return your $700+ set of tires?
If you're not going to do much off-roading, then maybe you could
go larger and not worry about rubbing because you're not stuffing
your tires into your wheel wells.
