The local CBS station in Los Angeles did a story on fake autograph sales. They
showed that 4 of 5 Kobe autos purchased retail were fakes (authenticated by
Kobe himself). The fakes weren't even close. These were from a variety of
sources.
The saddest thing is that HD refused to speak about their alledged signature
(except for Tabb's attorney) and it turns out that HD is owned by a man known
to authorities. They have confiscated a storage unit of "signed" sports and
movie stuff attempting to authenticate. This person was in the news last year.
Suggest a search of LA Times or Orange County Register for stories on Tabb
Investments.
I think that anyone who has purchased from HD should compare sigs to other
examples, and if they feel they are fraudulent contact the US Postal Inspectors
(if purchased by mail), Orange County District Attorney's Office at
714-843-3600, and the local authorities where purchased retail.
This is based on information provided on-air by KCBS, Channel 2, Los Angeles,
and I have never dealt with Hollywood Dreams and have no direct knowledge of
fraud.

You know, I have been reading this group for months and read about Hollywood
Dreams in particular because I purchased one of their authenticated autographs
(through another seller on e-bay btw). As a result, I made inquiries--knowing
full well that the media may occasionally NOT get the story 100%
accurately--inlcuding the Attorney General of California. Just yesterday I
received the following response from the AG's office..the text of which
follows:
"February 20, 1998
Re: Hollywood Dreams
Thank you for your letter of inquiry to Attorney General Dan Lungren regarding
the above-named business.
The California Attorney General solicits and maintains consumer complaints from
the public regarding companies doing business in our state. These are used to
assist our Consumer Law Section in dtermining patterns of deceptive or unfair
business activity whcih require formal investigation or legal action. The
complaints we receive are unsubstantiated and are considered to be law
enforcement investigative material. For this reason, it is our policy not to
release information from our files except to law enforcement agencies. Further
we feel that it would be unfair to legitimate businesses to comment on the
existance of complaints which have not been proven, and which may provide a
misleading impression to consumers.
While we cannot comment on unsubstantiated consumer complaints or pending
investigations, lawsuits or regulatory action by our office or other
governement agencies are a matter of public record. We have searched our data
base and the records available to us and found no information on the above
referenced business. This however should not be construed to indicate any
endorsement of the company.
While we cannot comment on the legitimacy of a particular company, we do hope
that you take all the neccessary safeguars to protect your interests.
We hope this information is both useful and helpful to you. Again thatn you

I don't know if they are legitimate, made some mistakes which they are honoring
or a bunch of thieves as they have frequently been characterized in this
newsgroup. I do know that in a nation of laws and justice, a person or
business is innocent until PROVEN guilty. According to the California
authorities...they have been proven guilty of nothing.

My previous message implied that David and Micheal were partners with
Harvey Tabb. That is not true. Harvey's partners are outlined on the SEC
webpage. Micheal was a VP at Ameritix and left that job to work for his
brother at Tabb Investments. Tabb Investments original startup capital came
from Harvey. They are family and quite close, however, that does not mean
David and Michael were his business partners in Ameritix.
Just wanted to clarify.

If you do a search on infoseek and type in the words Tabb and Fraud you
will get a hit for the Security Exchange Commission's list of fraudulant companies.
This page outlines how Harvey Tabb pled no contest to charges that he and two
partners conspired to steal several million dollars from their investors in AMERITIX
as well as fix their companies' stock price. Harvey Tabb is Micheal and David's father,
and it should be known that all three, ALL THREE, work with each other in business
all the time.
David and Michael's company Tabb Investments has been under investigation by
the Department of Justice for a year and San Diego television has run several pieces on
their fraudulant practices. ABC-San Diego, along with the FBI, purchased pieces from HD
with Clint Eastwood's signature. Clint Eastwood supplied his own signature and the FBI tested
the two and determined that they were not from the same source. HD has also been caught
selling Micky Mantel baseball bats signed by MM...only the bats were MANUFACTURED after
MM's death.
No court has found Tabb Investments guilty yet...but ABC has caught them in blatent examples
of fraud and their family has been in trouble with the law only a year ago when AMERITX was shut
down by the SEC.
Don't think for a second this is a company you can trust.
