I'm from the UK and I'm looking for a decent web site about or any
information on:
Mercedes 280E Diesel, 4 Cylinder, Saloon
Thanks in advance, Chally.
(Please can you send me the links direct using my email address.)
280E Diesel....?? Are u serious? The E is for gas cars, not diesel cars. For
them its D behind the number. I've never heard of a 2,8 litre MB Diesel, and
if it were one, I'd betcha it wouldnt have 4 cylinders... The 280E gasoline
is at 192-something hp within 2799 cc's of space. Lean, if not so very mean,
driing machine. 6 cylinders. The 280 engine has been uses in W123 and W124
as well as never models as the W202 and W210, the last two probably best
known as C- and E-class MB. The first two known as predescessors to W210,
where the W123 is the oldest one, made from -79 to -86 AFAIR. W124 is made
from -85 to-96 (?) depending on whether it is a coupe, estate, saloon or
convertible...
D (Diesel) models I know of:
200 D - 4 cyl.
200 TD - Turbocharged 4 cyl
200 CDI - Common Rail Diesel Injection Turbocharged 4 cyl.
220 CDI - Common Rail Diesel Injection Turbocharged 4 cyl.
240 D - 4 cyl
250 D - 4 cyl
250 D - 5 cyl
250 TD - Turbocharged 5 cyl.
270 CDI - Common Rail Diesel Injection Turbocharged 5 cyl.
290 TD - Turbocharged 5 cyl.
300 D - 6 cyl
300 TD - Turbocharged 6 cyl
320 CDI - Common Rail Diesel Injection Turbocharged 6 cyl.
350 TD - Turbocharged 6 cyl
In a hurry, these are the ones I came out with... Is there anyone else??

W123 300 D was also a 5 cylinder, roughly 1976 to 1985. Normally
aspirated through 1981, turbocharged after.
