What kind of Police car? In Texas we have Chevy Caprices, Ford Crown
Victorias, Chevy Cameros, Ford Mustangs, Ford Exlporers, and Chey
Tahoes. Those are the ones I've seen. I'm sure there are more.

The main point is that a police car travels at approximately the speed of
light...by using radio waves to get to the next car...
In this manner, even a venerable old VW bus police car could go faster than
a speeding SLK!

Id say most of the police cars are slugs. The camaro and mustangs are an
exception, and the BMW540 will be another exception, if CA manages to get one.
The Fords and Chev. Impalas do 0-60 in 8seconds plus, and top out at around 120
or so. For their size they handle pretty well, but they are no sports sedan.
Now, on the practical side, you would have to drive like a moron to outrun a
police officer in town. On the freeway, you could out run the police sedans,
but for the RADIO. duh!

Why thank-you, Brad. Was that you who I smoked on Laurel Canyon from Mulholland
down to Ventura Blvd in my 73 Bus? See, I knew about that buckle in the
pavement on that hard left curve. Did you actually take out all those mailboxes?

Next time, don't get so pissed at the light. I might start off slow, but I get
up to speed eventually. NMWFB

Nope...not me! I have more sense than to live or drive in LA. Wasn't that
a movie? TO LIVE AND DrIvE IN LA?

A little to the north, you might find me in Northern CA...

A 540 police car in CA? Really? Where? When?
Does the CHP have some sort of deal going with BMW,now that they get all BMW
motorcycles?

Living in the apparent "high-speed-chase capitol of the world" ,greater
L.A.,where these chases are broadcast almost daily on live tv,I have never seen
anyone get away...city or highway. If you outrun the cars, yes there's radio and
the police helicopter, plus in L.A. you'll have a number of tv helicopters on
top of you...and they won't ever let you go.. :-)

I doesn't matter how fast (or slow) a police car is, you still can't our run
his radio.

I read that BMW gave a 540i police car to the police in Spartanburg,
South Carolina (where the Z3s are built).

I remember seeing a Lamborghini Countach police car in the back of a
mid-1980's Road & Track magazine.

Now that would be a challenge! :)
