Anyone know the model / year of the Mercedes that Patrick Swayze drove in the
movie RoadHouse. Movie has to be about 8 years old?

TIA,

David,

Two different cars appeared in Roadhouse. The first was a
560 SEC (MY 86 - 91) .When the car jumped into the front garden
at the end of the movie , it was suddenly a 380 or 500 SEC
(MY 82 - 85) as you can easily see by the side protection mouldings
and the head lamps. For me that愀 a B-movie because such kind
of mistakes shouldn愒 happen.

As the present owner of a 560SEC, I commend the movie folks for finding a
way to not destroy one of these wonderful automobiles! It was still a good
movie, even if that car was changed out at the end.

It did look like the motor was missing on the jumping scene (could see up
through the engine compartment to the light coming through the hood seams).
The car may have been launched by some mechanism.

Wow! I wasn't sure I would even get a response on this!

Thanks...and do either of you recommend the purchase of a 560 SEC at this time
1998..almost 99'? If so what would be the best model year to look for ?

Thanks!

Another model question! Is there anyway or anyplace (website) that explains
the difference between all the different Merceds models?!?! I am so confused
and frustrated over the myriad of choices and just don't understand the
differences....For example what is the difference between a 560 SEC and a 560
SEL ?

TIA

See it this way : you can´t stop those movie people destroying
fine automobiles like SECs , but on the other hand with this
methods the remaining rest of the lot (incl. yours) gets more
valuable on longer distance.Same with the W123.In their time
I didn´t turn my head for them because there were so many
around in so many variaties (taxi cab, ambulance, hearse,
police, etc).Today after 13 years when the last run off the
p/line,it starts to be a sought-after car.Too many went (and
are still going) to eastern Europe,Africa and Lebanon where
they have a hard life. Also the W126.There is a quite big
choice (relatively) of sedans on the junk yard but not of the
coupes. That shows how valuable the SEC will be when it gets rare.
