Delaware has no sales tax. does that apply to car sales? if so i'd save
thousands of money.

Yes that applies to cars, but when you buy out of state, you will have to pay
your sales tax eventually. They get you either way. The only way is to register
it in Delaware, maybe in a relatives name or family or something. You save a
considerable amount. Up here in NY, where its 8% sales tax, if I were to buy a
E320 for 50,000, I will end up paying 54000. I could save 4000 if I lived in
Delaware. Thats a good chunk of change.

Until you try to register the car in your home state where the DMV will
collect the tax just as if you'd bought it down the street. They're not
stupid, guys like you have tried this before.

Yes, but...
When you buy a "tax free" car here in Delaware, there is a "road-use
fee" (read: tax) you pay when you aquire a Delaware registration. If
you take the car out state for registration, the other state will zap
you with whatever taxes they have.

Before living here in Delaware, I used to live in New Hampshire, and
the same general set up is used there.

Look at it this way: You're dealing with government here, so
eventually you're going to pay.
