George,
Even here in Pittsburgh we've been getting lake-effect snow for a week.
But, being 200 miles from Lake Erie, it's accumulated less than 4 inches
in the city. But it has been cold. The highs have been in the mid 20's
(Fahrenheit) for a week & expected to continue that way for at least
another week. Wind chills have been around zero. Last year at this time
I missed this winterly weather because I was in Japan. In all honesty, I
didn't miss the weather at all ....

Yeah about the same out here, just too cold to get much done..
Dunno how they survive in Minnesota, gues if you have proper gear and
clothes...I ain't motivated to move there till somebody invents a portable
nuclear reactor...
My son in Iowa has warm weather compared to here in southern MO. He has the
20's and snow and we have colder weather than many can remember and more
snow than usual. Des Moines is almost through their entire snow removal
budget!

I long for the days past when I had a gig that shut down
for three months and I would split for Hawaii or California
until April.
Snow is a four letter word.

I love snow! I hate cold!
Denny
Don't you just love global warming :0
alot of our snow is from global warming
lake iontario is about 3 degrees warmer than it has ever been and the warm
water is pumping moisture into the weather systems as they move from nwest
to east
and we get the behifit of all that mositure once the winds hit the colder
land mass off the east shore of the lake
George
most of the states could use a little of that warming with these record
lows. How about sending some of it our way? It has been sub normal since
early spring! Over here the stores don't have any insulated boots because
we don't get this cold for this long and this much snow that is not from
lake effects. Did your lake effect snow affect the deep south too? Des
Moines does not get lake effect snow. Neither does southern Missouri.
Normal snows here are up to 1 inch. We had 2 major (for southern MO)
snowfalls in 1 week that shut a lot of business and schools down. Normally
it is ice storms, not snow storms. Reminds me of your neck of the woods in
Buffalo, NY. Not normal for Iowa, not normal for MO. Your neck of the woods
is not the whole world. Most of the US has been colder than normal all this
year and much of last year also. So has Europe.
global warming is a trend not a record there is nowhere on earth that is
trending colder

mine is lake effect directly related to global warming of the great lakes

one year is but a speck on the overall trend of global warming
we are talking 10's of thousands of years
not one weekend
I( see your grasp of science has not improved
George
Europe is experiencing the coldest winter on record I believe.
Phildo
you need to look at decade long trends not the extremes

It's weird.
What you say is true, but not sure about the record part.. But the polar ice
in the Arctic is melting. It would seem the hot air going there is
displccing cold air down here.
In the states we have only 3 states without snow. Quite unusual.
Nowhere near records though.
Weird weather to say the least, and we are gonna have serious problems if
the out-of-control stuff continues.
It was colder in Atlanta, GA than Fairbanks, AK this week....
- Denny
At 11pm Sat. it was 5 degrees warmer in SW Alaska than it was
in Jacksonville, FL.
