I have heard different ways to setup a mixer in a
live situation. We are running our sound from
the stage when we play and I was wondering if
there is a standard in the way MXRs are setup.

1)Some of the things that I have heard and seen
are: Using the full range of the faders to
control level and using the least amount of trim
possible. Meaning pushing the faders above 'unity
gain'.

2)setting the subgroups at 'unity gain' and using
the master vol to control overall volume.

I was always told to use the faders and trim
knobs together, but not go over 'unity' so the
channel is not overdriven. Also, the master vol
should be used as just that, the subgroups should
be used as the masters of each group. I am used
to studio mixing more than live mixing. Please,
can someone confirm this or tell me the 'ideal'
way to do this before we blow something up?

Thanks in advance
Eric
