The application is live sound, smaller venue, for either monitors or
FOH (but won't drive any frequencies under 100Hz FOH. I have a
Powerlight that I drive subs with.)
Amps I'm considering are the Crown xls402, Qsc rmx 850 or plx1202.
I saw a review of the ART SLA-2 which seemed surpisingly good, but I'm
naturally dubious.
What about Legion amps, made by Madison?
The Behringer Europower are clones of the QSC RMX series, yes? Are
they reliable?
And there's a cornucopia of amps I never heard of.... who buys some of
this stuff?
-glenn
No, they are not clones and yes, they are very reliable. You would be
wasting money buying anything else.
Phildo
Art is OK but not greta. I wouldn't buy it for pro sound.
Legion stuff keeps popping up here. There is a company called Madison that
makes crap. Legion is their cheap brand. Do you REALLY want to buy a crap
maker's cheap brand?
Steelsound AKA Music Supply says they are great. They share warehouse space
with Madison. Get the idea?

The Behringers are the best money/performance deal. You can get better but
you got to spend a lot more. They seem to be as reliable as the RMX's BTW
they are not clones. Similar , but not clones.

Amps are not rocket science. There are tons of usable ones out there. There
are cheap ones that work. But they weigh a ton.
Stick to stuff you've heard of or as you just did, ask. Never hurts to
google too.

I believe the A500 is targeted more for studio use and may not be a
good choice for live sound reinforcement.
I think the Europower amps would be better suited for the OPs use.

That relies on an opinion about what a 'clone' is.
Graham
The word 'clone' implies an 'identical copy' which the Belringer isnt.

Get off it Graham. One can have an opinion about anything. You certainly do.
So do billions of others who are wrong.
A clone is an exact or close to exact copy. Look up the definition.
In this case it doesn't apply. Not a close to exact copy.

An item can be a "electrical clone" of an item.
A wolf is sheep's clothing.

It would have to be a close copy electrically?
I am certain there are similarities. But I dispute the similarities are
enough to call them clones, that's all.
I had a Guitar Center employee tell me a DCX was a clone of a Driverack PA.
Challenge that employee to hook up the most expensive amp and speakers in
his shop via a Driverack PA, then pull the power to the Driverack for a
moment....we'll see how much a a clone he thinks it is.
Bob
ROTFL. Agreed.
BTW when I challenged him on it, he said he knew it was true. They had
discussed it in a sales meeting!
Rob
Compared to virtually eberything else, except no-name junk, it was
really cheap, and is new w/ manufacturers warranty. With all the
positive comments about the sound & reliability, it seemed like the
only sensible choice.
thanks again,

george
Next time, tho, the EP 2500 for sure.
