Just hooked up the Roland UA-30? USB audio device to the new Winbook
today. Seems to function perfectly. It runs around 180USD and was pretty
easy to set up, once we figured out that Smaart ignores the USB device
unless you tell it to do otherwise. For the FDS-336 interface, I'm using
RS-232. When we add more units, I'll have to change over I suppose.

I use a Midiman USB 2x2 and setup 1 network for 366's and one for BSS 926
EQ's
What do you use for the audio? I'm trying to find an all-in-one
audio/MIDI solution.

Ralph, I read something on the SMAART website about some kind of mod
that has to be done to get full duplex working correctly on the UA-30.
Did you find this necessary?

I haven't gotten that far yet. Besides, there's a lot better and easier
sources for test signals than the computer's output. I already have a CD
burned with all the stuff I need, and a cd player is already wired into
the system. Why bother with the extra cables? If I wanted/needed to,
there's still a perfectly good stereo line level output on the laptop's
motherboard I could use without cluttering up the USB stuff. Line level
stereo inputs are the only thing I have a real use for. Am I missing
some crucial bit of knowledge, blinding me to a need/desire for this?

I have a sound card in the laptop as well. 1 line is direct and one is going
thru a Graceland pre amp(Luna tech). I use an Earthworks mic.

Nope, don't think you're missing anything. As a matter of fact, my
thinking was kind of like yours...I've got plenty of other signal
generator sources, so signal gen. out of the computer is probably
unecessarliy redundant. I was just wondering if _I_ was missing
anything.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the info, Robert.
