Amp trouble was mainly heat related. They didn't seem to like any load lower
than 8ohms. Maybe there was another fault causing this (blocked airways
etc). I really didn't get on with them. Had and RCF amp only powering the
high mid and top of a pair of event ...6000's are they.. Overheated and
failed (all the cooling gear was working fine). Admitedly they are crap but
alot more money than the PV2000 :)
i suppose any product that lets you down mid show you tend to fall out with.
Thats why i dont particularly like mackie desks, i'm sure there are good M
desks out there but i've had 2 fail on me at awkward times. also had a load
of switch and socket problems with this amp, which on their own are nothing
major and can be expected from amps if used alot.
I use the Behrigner EP2500 as amps on monitors (install) 6 in total (one
bridged for a drum fill sub) and i think fo the money they are great amps.
(i woudltn' want to cart that many about mind. with my back weight is
always an issue and with the PV2000 you have AN ISSUE. what are they about
5cwt :)

To be honest ?
Peavey don't really fall into the *pro* classification.
They have made some durable gear over the years, no question - they've also
made some turkeys too - but by no means is it PRO by the standards we are used
to in this group.

Many of the largest sound installations run on Peavey Mediamatrix systems
Many sound companies use Crest amplifiers and consoles made by Peavey. I
really enjoy working working with the XVCA console myself.
Perhaps I'll start slagging off Studiomaster stuff, after all its really
just MI gear.
;-)
I'm well aware of the media matrix stuff.
Peavey ( the companies they bought ? ) do indeed make some good gear. Just kinda late
to the party, that's all ! That isn't Peavey's main market though.
Graham
could you blame him with some of the shit that gets posted on here (and i'm
not refering to this post)

used hundreds of them. hated them. 400kg 9u 16watts ya know what i'm talking
about.
They were pretty robust but the sound from them was bloody awful. and some
of the models...warm wasn't in it.....

Butlins Skegness (in the UK) use Peavey HDH sidefills so they are used
everywhere. But thats with Turbo wedges and D&B up front. So its in its
place.

Personally i just dont find it reliable or efficient. but that is ONLY MY
OPINION

I never mentioned them being pro or not i simply said i have used the in the
past and had trouble with them and was not impressed.
Rob
Peavey does not "make" Crest consoles and amps they (Crest) still have their
own facilities out east. Some lower end crest and upper end Peavey share
technologies but for the most part they are still seperate companys.

Sure, seen CS800s around. The HiSys and EuroSys speakers make themselves seen
from time to time too.
Peavey probably isn't such a popular brand as you suggest in European countries
though.
Graham
No, they are made by Crest. Crest just happened to be owned by Peavey.
