hello all.
i want to purchase a mic for a female voice (very r&b-like and
powerful). the sm-58 didn't sound that good on her and so i'm thinking
about the beyer opus 69 and sennheiser 845 as an alternative.
has anybody experiences with these two mics?
thanks to all replies.

ive got a couple fo the sennheiser there good, not as durable as a 58, and a
lot of bands ive worked with wont use them (becouse they are used to the
sm58) i use my sm58 stock for rock bands but i use my 845's on anything else
that needs good clear female vocal.

I havent heard it yet but I can make you a great deal on an OM-2 (actually
anything in the Audix line but I have 2 OM-2's sitting on my shelf I need to
move) but really you should look at the OM6 for her...

I don't know the Beyer mic so can't comment on it however:

I do like the e845 - its a very capable all rounder. I prefer it to the
SM58 but its not as rider friendly or quite as robust as a 58. Its also
pretty tolerant of poor mic technique

The e865 is also worth a look: Its a condensor like the Shure B87 and
has a similar sound - IMO more solid and less thin sounding with less
proximity effect problems.

I would generally use the 845 for R'n'R and the 865s for more subtle
voices where you want to get more of the fine nuances out

specs (and even people experence) cant tell you the best vocal mic to use as
every 1s voise is different
however i will say im using Rode NT-3 for vocals in a band, the have a flat
responce and are extramly clear, they work great on every1 and everything i
put them on. however they are a recording mic, but they work great live
aswell with very little feed back and have a high output

try and get info on every mic you can and if you can borrow some mics, or
take this girl ionto a music shop and try some different mics and ssee which
sounds the best. the only way to get the right mic for the rigth person is
to try them
