Looking at the last thread I see there are 66 messages in the thread
and 18 people talking. Thank god most are short. It's like having 18
conversations at once. How would anyone follow a thread like this if
18 people were all long winded. whew !

Threads of that length are common place here and in many usenet groups.
I'm guessing you are using an online reader, like google, as using an
offline reader makes things a whole lot easy to work.
