I'm looking for the service documentation for a Harrison X1600 Mosfet
Amplifier. Does anyone have any information where I can find this
documentation ?
Thanks,
Staf

Hi Staf,
The people from Harrison Technology Ltd. seem to have disappeared.
About a month ago I posted (into this group) a message in which I was asking
for service documentation for the Harrison GP230 EQ.
No luck so far. I was hoping someone in the UK would have more info.
I have checked the telephone company in the Netherlands but they where not
able to find something on the last know address below:
Unit3, Button End,
Harston
Cambridge CB2 5NX
England
In case you find out more please drop us a message in this newsgroup.
Much appreciated.

** These amps are impossible to repair. The output mosfets are
non-available nor are any practical substitutes.
I know of several that are currently being used as door stoppers.
Regards, Phil
I am looking for more than 6 months now and today I received a mail with (I
hope) the solution.
The person mailed me that there is a company that still does the repairing
of Harrison and H/H. I know that Harrison went bankrup because of problems
with taxes and it seems that H/H took over the bussines or it is possible
that the old Harrison became H/H I'm not sure about that. But go to
http://www.majelectronic.co.uk/pages/main.htm
About the mosfets, I have repaired one channel of this amp. I used the
2SJ200 (toshiba) and the 2SK1529. These are the types that I found in the
ECA databases. They are 5 times cheaper than the original ones, I pay a
price for one for about 6.50 Euro. I could locate one original but there
was a price of 35 Euro ! On the other channel there was a lot more broken
and I had to repair almost the whole preamp. This channel is not stable
anymore and sometimes it start oscillating. The first time it cost me
double because all the fet's where blown up for a second time (grrr.....).
And there still some other problem so that's why I need ugently a real good
service doc. I hope I got the wright address now.
Good luck with your search, and sorry for my bad English.
Cheers,
Staf

Hi
I have circuit diagrams for the X1600 if that helps.
Something to watch when replacing the Mosfets in Harrison amplifiers.
They used to buy standard parts and then see which ones would run at a
higher voltage than the devices spec. You can tell by a coloured dot
on the device.
Take the J50 used in some harrison amps for instance. The device was
spec'd at 180volts but were routinelt selected for 200volt and would
often reach 230volts or more.

Thanks for that link!
I will drop them a line to see if they have a schematic for my EQ.

Don't worry. You have the best beer there is :-)

That probably explains a lot about why this series do not have a good
reputation!
Thanks for sharing.

Yes please, that will help for sure. But how does it come my way ? Can you
scan it and send it to me by mail ?
I have already repaired one channel with the 2SJ200 and 2SK1529 but I have
problems with the other channel, it is not stable and it start oscillating
sometimes. I had to repair the whole pre-amp of this channel and I think I
mis something, that why I need a good circuit diagram.
So can you help me ?
Many many thanks,
Cheers,

they are indeed hard to repair but this amp was used for more than 10 years
almost every weekend for the full power. I have seen amplifiers that didn't
last that long. So the previous owner was very happy until ...
