Check this out when you get the time, he has supposedly invented a speaker
that can produce, um... reproduce "the process in which humans can localize
sounds"... he calls it Holophonics.

I know he's done great research into improving binaural recording too...
but this is different.
http://community-2.webtv.net/zuccarellix/

He handled the sound for Burningman 2001's Emerald City so the stuff can fly
and "take the heat" of a live DJ set.... so I can say I'm nothing less
that very very intersted. I would like to buy a set of speakers from him...

Has anyone here heard his speakers?

According to preliminary tests in front of qualified experts in the
industry, the speaker perform flolessly in open fields, (up to 300 ft
away!!), with a sound quality that many consider better than the one
achieved in a studio. Also the speaker displays the uncany effect of not
being affected by feedback. (a videotape of such effect shows a person
speaking with a hand held mike at 3 inches from the speaker in a 1500 seats
church without feedback ). apparently for the same reason that a person can
stand directly in front of the speaker without being affected by the
loudness of the sound.

also worth noting he's been working the recording scene for some time (but
for what company?)... try searching for albumns which he's credited on...
like Michael Jackson - Bad, and Steve Vai - Fire Garden...

ha... so mabey he didnt work with Jackson... but somehow Jackson got a
hold of a "Ringo" and used it on Bad....
------------------------------

In 1993, inventor Hugo Zuccarelli punched one of Michael Jackson's lawyers
after a judge in Los Angeles dismissed his lawsuit against the singer.
Zuccarelli sued Jackson and his record label, Sony Music, claiming Jackson
used his three-dimensional sound system on the album "Bad" without paying a
royalty. Jackson was not in court for the fisticuffs.

But the source material has to have been recorded using the "Zuccarelli
Holophonics System" .
I have an album by Psychic TV ( Dreams Less Sweet, 1982?) that was
recorded in "Zuccarelli Holophonics Sound" . but haven't played it back
with the proper setup .

It does sound very good in terms of imaging.

I have no doubt in my mind that he DID invent what's probably the best
"head" that anyone has done, but the idea of having a "pilot signal" that
our ear uses as an interferance pattern is pretty much ludicris. Its been
argued many many times, including in 83 (?) when he published a story about
it in New Scientist magazine. His blackbox part of "Ringo" (the head
thingy) has been described by most engineers who have heard it as... a
really good eq and phase correction for his head. Nothing more, and even if
it is, NOBODY will ever know.

But I'm interested in his speakers. Even if it is a normal electrostatic
type speaker, he used a 7ft tall x 1 line array of them for Burningman2001.
I dont know if he had subs backing or not... but even if he did, it's
still pretty amazing to have that much output, thrown that far, with a 7ft
line array.

Or am I way off and that's totaly possable now??

Anywho... still looking for information about his speakers. =)

Oh, also, he considers (and other people) consider electrostatic headphones
to be the best way to experience holophony (cough) holophonics, but any good
pair of cans will do. =)

=) I found Hugo. If anyone needs his phone number, email me privy
jessespamacct -at- hmbmk.com (dont remove any letters, just fix the at
symbol)

Also, the link on his website works great =) If you need a great head, he
would be the dude to call.

I guess that PsycicTV's first album was recorded with it too, they even
buried it 'alive' heheheh

Im hoping to get a sample of his speakers sometime, not anytime soon. Next
time Im in LA (never been there before, not about to) But Im sure they are
good. Holophonics though, I havnt asked Hugo about what it really is... Im
pretty sure its just a great head, not holo anything else.

whatever, /me closes thread ;-)

If you can do that you'll make every man on the planet jealous.

I think we're talking about different types of "head" here.

Oh, and please stop top-posting. I won't reply to any more of your posts
unless they are formatted properly.
