Anyone know of a good program for doing stage plots and where I can get
some clip art to use for doing them?

Would you like to share the shapes you use, or do you just use
standard shapes?

VectorWorks...used to be MiniCad. It is an aboject-based CAD program,
with 3D and rendering too. I use it daily, for anything from stage plots
to rack layouts, to full on designs for cabinets, hang arrangements, etc.

Its called AVI...Audio Visual Innovations. The Atlanta number is
404-367-9940. The gear lives in Tampa, that's where the mail office is.

I second Vectorworks, but I've run across a little company called Hot Door
that markets CADTools for Illustrator. If there are any Adobe fans out
there that need more detailed drawing tools with CAD features and scaling
for US$200, let me know, and I'll send you their web address. I recently
downloaded the program and have been playing around with it. It does 2D
objects with auto-scaling measurements and linkable graphic placements
quite nicely. You download the full program, but it only lets you do 1:3
scale until you register.

Micheal, what version of Visio are you using? I found an older version (4.0)
that I am just getting into. How do you make your own stencils? That would seem
like the ticket for me.

I use both 2000 and 4.1, to create your stencil first you open a drawing or
template select a scale (you have to do this other wise your image will
distort when you do decide to draw in or out of scale) then either open a
stencil file or create a new one in *original* as opposed to "Read only"
mode draw your image and drag in the window after your done you can name it
name the stencil file *.vss and voila!!!

pleasure of doing a day with him. Had th DV-Dosc rig and it sounded great.
