When I got the mz-r90, the battery was dead. I'm not sure how long it
has set idle, but I am thinking it has been at least over two years.
When I tried to the adaptor that came with the 505 to recharge the
battery, the r90 just flashes "charging" very quickly, but doesn't seem
to do anything (ie: it's not charging the battery). Thinking that the
battery was just dead and gone, I purchased a new battery and a
univeral AC multi-adaptor. Still no luck. The r90 just flashes
"charging" quickly and nothing happens.
I have searched and searched, but I cannot find an answer on the web
anywhere.
Any advice, thoughts, suggestions?
I don't own a portable so can't help except to point you to a page
which contains the manuals. lower down there's a service manual for
the r90 too

They're in pdf.

Thanks, but I have already tried that route with no luck. The manual
says nothing about the problem I am having. I have even tried the Sony
site, but I get a 505 error when I try to use their support email.
Switch to an external battery charger for the gumstick battery or use the
supplied external battery case to hold a rechargeable AA NiMH?

I thought the section of the manual which described the RK-TXT1 cable to a
D-EJ01 portable CD player (with optical digital output) to be very
interesting. That has to be the most portable way to make MD's from CD's
that I've ever seen. It's on page 23-GB:

Yeah, that's about right, happens when I try just about any 'support'
thing. Sorry I couldn't be of more help

Hope this helps.
HOLY AMAZING onda2!
That was the problem! I gently pried it out a bit, closed the door and
BAM! we have "charging"!
I am so very happy now.
Thank you usenet! I knew you wouldn't let me down.
