Why can't free trade bring japans top tech-gadgets over here?

hate how the best of the best tech-gadgets never reach this end of the
shore.

there has to be a way of obtaining those items here.

hate when you read something like : "Only available in Japan."

not really.

they don't have what japan have.
some products, by law or something, are ordered to stay within japanes
borders.

I lived in Japan for a couple of years, and I loved all the electronics.
There was a place names Akihabira, or Electric Wonder Town, and it has
everything. I bought my MD over there, a Sharp MD-831, and it is still
better than anything over here. I have a Li-on battery, and MD's were like
50 cents, and you could get them in the 7-11. Hell, they even had MD's in
their Sony Viao desktop machines. There are a few places that import
Japanese machines, but you have to be careful because they have a different
current there. I have to run my MD-831 through the cradle only or it will
fry my battery. Some machines have them, like Sharp's, but others do not.
Just make sure you get the current converter before you use any of them.
And, you might want to check on E-Bay, there are MD's from japan on there as
well.

I think the market for gadgets in Japan is better than here. Also, the
business model is for the Japanese consumer electronics companies to release
the cool gear to Japan, work out the bugs for a year or so, the send it to
the (notoriously fussy) Western Market.

The same things happen in S. Korea. Samsung releases some really cool stuff
(like cell phones and mp3 players, for example) and work out the bugs before
export.

And a lot ends up discarded for whatever reason.

If you ever get the chance, go there like I did. There is more stuff there
than you can even imagine. Every time I turned around I saw something new I
wanted. Needless to say, my luggage was rather heavy on the journey home!!!
