I am after a CD/MD micro hi-fi, and I've always wanted this one, ever since
I worked in Currys (sigh).

Anyway, my old (read: 1 year old) shitty Hi-Fi system is too big, ugly and
useless. So I've decided to by a micro system.

I was originalls looking at the CMT-J3MD, which is a beautiful peice of kit,
but I've decided that at over £400 for a Micro, its waaaaayyyy over priced.

Unbeatable.co.uk have the DHC-MD373 (without Tape deck - down with tapes!)
for about £265 which seems reasonable.

So does anyone have any opinions on this? Or are there any Hi-Fi review
sites out there that will aid my decision?

Any help/advice would be much, much appreciated...

Thanks

Moorish

PS. Any opinions on Unbeatable.co.uk? They look pretty good to me, their
extended warranty which covers 'accidental' damage looks interesting...
hmmmm....

Read What Hi-Fi magazine or look at www.whathifi.com (but to see the
reviews, you have to buy the mag - they're not stupid!).

That having been said, I'd buy hi-fi equipment because it sounded good, not
because it was a particular size. What's wrong with your old system? What
don't you like about it?

Hi,

Do check out MDS-PC3 if you want a MD deck. I think it could be used with ur
current HiFi, and u get MD recording/editting functions as well. I think the
PC3 is my dream deck, if I had the money! :)

Regards,
Gee.

Well the thing is the CD player in my current Hi-Fi is fucked, and it
doesn't have an Optical connection anyway, so I really need to get a totally
new Hi-Fi...

I've had an MD373 for about a year now, I'm certainly very happy with it. I
purchased mine, with the tape deck, from Unbeatable, at the time this was 50
quid less than the 'sale' prices that some people were offering. I've since
seen some normal outlets reduce their prices, I don't know if Unbeatable
have reduced theirs accordingly. Had no problems with the service from
Unbeatable, I'd use them again.

Sound is good, there is no graphic equaliser but a series of preset options.
Whilst this seemed a bit of a limitation at first, I've found one of the
settings to give a better sound than I could probably have found with a
graphic equaliser, using its bass boost feature. The speakers give good bass
for their size, but it is sensitive to the positioning of the speakers (they
have bass ports at the back). There is no balance control.

Yesterday I entered test mode. Cursor-> and <-Cursor seem to make an IT
indicator go out and come on again. Is this some kind of tracking alignment?
