I'm the same guy with Polaris problems, just wanted some opinions on the
T1500 winch. I thought it would be enough to pull my quad(when it was
running) out of about anything, I was wrong. Granted I was stuck in
some nasty mud but I guess I just expected more. It works great for
raising my plow though. The one compaint that stands out the most is
the cheesy little rocker switch that comes with it. It was only two
months old and it fizzled out. My buddy bought a similar rocker and his
lasted about three months then fizzled out, so currently we're using
automotive three-way toggle swithches ($11.95 compared to 44.95)
Momentary-on, off, momentary on; they spring load back to the off
postion so it seems to work great so far (but time will tell)

One thing you may notice with using the automotive momentary toggle
switches, you have no dynamic brake action of the winch. The winch toggle
and rotary switches shunt (short) the field of the winch while in the off
position. The winch can then 'hold' a load such as your plow in the up
position. By the way, I also had no luck with those toggle type winch
controls. In fact I think it may have damaged my battery because the switch
basically dead shorted when it would fail. Oh well, $60 poorer but wiser.
