Whats the top speed for a 300ex?

Was just wondering what the top speed was on a stock 300ex. I picked mine up
yesterday and had a blast today (sick day from work.).

The Hardcore Icon tested his 300ex numerous times with his GPS and came out
with a top speed (on level ground, with recommended tire pressure and no
wind), of 55-56 mph.

ps. make sure to break in that motor correctly and don't hold it wide open
right away!! It will last for a long time as long as it's broken in right.

I'm so glad I got the 300 instead of the 400. The 300 is plenty fast for
me. I like going fast but I have the most fun climbing hills and riding
technical trails. If I would have got the 400 the trails would be harder to
navigate without reverse. Why does the 400 come without reverse Is it
weight?

ridden a 400ex and it makes up for that in speed, power, and handeling--the

Partly. It's also supposed to be another "race" machine. I don't see
many MXers going in reverse.

It's based on the 250r, just modded for the new age with a thumper
instead of a 2 stroke (mistake IMHO)..

They didn't go quite far enough in the MX direction, IMHO. Cannondale
did. :) So if ya have another 5k, you could have gotten a real
zipper! Still the 400ex is quite a machine.

The Icon believes that weight was the reason they left reverse off the
400ex. They were trying to make it as close to the 250R as possible and
weight was the main concern.

The Icon has heard that reverse only adds about 4 pounds or something like
that to the Raptor. Not too bad. It would be nice if the 400ex had it.

The Warrior is faster than 54.... try about 60-61. The 300ex will pull
about 55-56 no prob.

The Icon doubts that it really goes 110 mph, and doesn't really care if it
does.

60 mph is plenty fast to kill you, and plenty fast to have fun too. And
every single person who rides dirt bikes that the Icon knows has broken at
least 1 bone on the bike. Not that the Icon has anything against dirt
bikes, but the Icon prefers not to break bones in his free time.

Have fun on your little CR125 and try not to be dead soon.

People get these numbers in their head and really believe that their
machines will go that fast....... who knows where that came from!

What a lot of people don't understand is that around 90-100 mph the wind
resistance becomes so strong that it's really really hard, and takes a lot
more horsepower to get going much faster.
