Hi, I am considering buying a Scrambler 400 4x4,and I was wondering if
anyone has driven both and can give me a comparison. It looks like the
explorer is 40lbs heavier, but the engine is the same - is the performance
between the two close? Is the gearing the same? Thanks for your help.

I own the 95 4x4 300 but I would imagine the explorer is more geared
towards utility/comfort where the scramblers are great. I own 2 of
those. Clutch kit, K&N, and a pipe with spider trax on the rear and
she hauls for her size and weight.
BUT!! The explorer will probably be better in the mud. But the
scramblers are good to.
Kind of an option thing goin here. Racks/no racks, race or ride

I couldnt decide so I bought both,lol

the major difference between the explorer and the scrambler is the power
the scrambler is a sport bike the explorer is a utility bike im
not sure but the scrambler motor probably has a larger cam and
carburetor to go faster the explorer is the slowest of the two but
will be the most comfortable to ride it will probably go better in the
mud than the scrambler if your into wheelies jumping and major
speed than go with the scrambler if your into working putting around and
a comfortable ride than go with the explorer if it was my decision
to make i would go with the scrambler

Please don't think that the explorer is slow, I own a 98 explorer 400,
and it's extremely fast, quick and also powereful on the low end. I can
get about 62 MPH at top end.
